Speaking up for yourself

t1

It is so important to speak up for yourself!  Having an oncologist you can talk to can make all the difference in the world, in life and death.  It's important to be aware of as much information pertaining to your form of cancer, and your own body, as you can.  Because you are fighting for your life.  Your oncologist has hundreds of patients, also fighting for their lives, and he can not be expected to remember every detail about each one.  So if you feel like he overlooking a test that you should be having it's vitally important that you speak up, ask him when you last had that test.  He will look at his records and often times discover that suddenly it is time for that test.  You are your own best advocate!

  1. Look!! It's a baby dinosaur!!

And yes, do keep asking the oncologist those questions. Keep him honest.

And meantime, I'll keep saying my prayers for you.

  3. What a perfect picture for this post. Which, by the way, should be a billboard on lots of busy highways. Great message.

  4. This is so true, even when going to the doctor for any other reason. You should know your body and speak up when you think the doctor is not "hearing" you!

  10. I came to you via Macro Monday a few weeks back and visited again today after I saw your name on the Camera Critters McLinky. Then I saw this photo, which is absolutely wonderful, and read about your remission and your 5 Year Project. I had no idea about your health issues and I'm so pleased to hear that things are going well for you. I wish you all the best - and just as I was part of the 30% who survive my type of stroke I feel sure you are indeed part of the 25% who make it to the 5 year mark and beyond. I wish you all the best. x.

  12. This is the best advice you can give...It is very hard to fight a battle when you are sick, tired and scared, but that's when you really need to be on your toes or have a really good friend to help you....Michelle

my sister has been fighting cancer for a year now.
the doctors have mostly been wonderful but you can't be shy...
stand up for yourself if you feel like something is wrong.
