Did you take these pictures? They are very special. Its not often that we can get the chance of seeing a blue heron. The eyes are pretty intense. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent! I live in an environment where I see herons every day, often right out front. But they NEVER let me get close enough for a photo such as this, zoom lens or not! Stand up and take a bow! ~karen
They are the most elegant, regal creatures. Amazing pictures.
At 65, I've done it! My poetry book - Life's Journey by Carmen Henesy - is out on Amazon! ( Poems about the things that have been important to me in my journey through life, some humorous, some sad, some that may have meaning to you as well ) http://www.amazon.com/Lifes-Journey-1-Carmen-Henesy/dp/1451547366/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274652997&sr=1-1
Brilliant, Lisa! I love your bird shots. Herons look so majestic and graceful. I would love to see them in flight some time. They are not so much a northern bird I don't think; we surely don't see them up here! :o)
Hmmmm. Probably tastes like chicken. But then - doesn't everything? The thing is - given the ancestry of birds and fowl - do you not think it appropriate to say "Tastes like dinosaur?"
i can't wait to get close enough to one that's not flying away. they are such beautiful birds. i would love to have some close ups that's were half this good. have a great night.
Those are some pretty amazing pictures. I always enjoy seeing herons, there's something mystical about them.

Majestic creatures. We have then in our yard now and then and see them winging their way home to the nest.
ReplyDeleteOnce again you've gotten closer than anyone I can think of. (Either that or you have a really long, really sharp lens you do these with).
ReplyDeleteAwesome shooting!
As a mom I want to lick my finger and smooth down that one feather sticking out of the back of the birds head!!
ReplyDeleteSuch an elegant creature...
ReplyDeleteCoolbirds.... ate all my damn planted fish in my 2 acre pond! Stilllke them.....Hugs TJ

ReplyDeleteThe eye is a piercing as the beak and makes me feel slightly threatened.
