red-bellied sapsucker

Cold, refreshing, full of beauty!  Would we appreciate the warmth and flowers in the spring if we did not endure this time of quiet beauty?

I caught these two Downy Woodpeckers flitting around the yard chasing each other - thought they were adorable!

  1. Wow! I really need to look harder to find some animals or birds here. It is all snowy and seemingly barren. I love your shots. They are beautiful!

  3. I love that first photo. It's absolutely perfect with that lovely flash of red in amongst the snow.

  4. I love your Red-Bellied Sapsucker, we had a beautiful 1 that stayed around my house. 1 day 2 weeks ago I heard a loud bang and looked around and it had flown into my bedroom window, before I could get around to it or it could get up the neighbors stupid cat snatched it up and ran with it. I was so sad. He was so big and beautiful
Thanks for sharing you lovely picture.

  5. Mr. Sapsucker is one handsome dude, but red-bellied? I was never good in anatomy but, I'm thinking something amiss ;-)
