surviving

082910

When you finish chemo and are finally deemed cancer-free you are thrilled to have met your goal.  You count yourself lucky to have survived the beast, to have battled, and WON!  You spend some time floating in the clouds and regaining your strength.  As time goes on that horrible time in your life gets further in the rearview mirror, but you know the beast is always out there circling.

  1. Interesting choice of photographic subjects to companion this post. Love the photo itself, just not sure how to connect it to the text. But that's okay... I'm not the one who has to understand.

  2. I like today's photo very much. To me, it symbolizes a goal to reach. With your strength and positive attitude, I know you will make your five-year goal.

My sister-in-law is going through chemo right now and it is useful for me to read your point of view having lived through a similar process.

  3. I agree with dutchbaby, Lisa, and think that the photo also shares an empty basket...freedom from the pull of that ball rushing through and forcing the strings to stretch. You have accomplished a great deal ♥

  12. Lisa. Your post makes me think of Dell's basketball seasons. They'd win a game, and that was great, but there would always be another game without guarantees. And that's stressful. I love the shot and your thought.

  13. I'm so glad you slam dunked the cancer, Lisa! I can understand why you might still feel fear though. Take care!

  14. I think you used the perfect image to go with your words that were so eloquently written. I do think you have found your voice that you didn't think you had for expressing this journey.
EG's comment of 'slam dunked' is icing for this post. :)

My Mom is 75 and just reached her five year mark in July. Yours is coming Lisa!

And I bet cancer always feels like a beast following you from a distance. May it never rear its ugly head again!
