sharp as a tack

072410

The tree I stuck this tack into is getting off easy, it will have no scars from the poking. My body is a map of scars from this surgery or that. The scars are proof of life, and I embrace them.

  2. I'm totally with you on the scars front. They mark us as unique, and serve notice that the goal of this life thing isn't to get through it as quietly as possible. Life should be lived. And if we get scraped up along the way, so much the better.

This photo is a powerful reminder of that, and I appreciate your sharing it in this way. Amen on so many levels.

  4. I got my first stitches when I was only about 6 months old. Been getting them ever since too it seems like. I am not worried about leaving behind a good looking corpse. I intend to drive the whee;s off this body and if there's anything useful left folks are welcome to it. The scars and the events that created them are all a part of the whole, so bring 'em on.
