Fresh Country Air
Standing in open country with just the breeze in my face makes me feel so small, but also gives me opportunity for plenty of awe, and can stir flickers of hope where there was none. There's not much better than fresh country air. . .minus cow poop aroma, obviously.

Bath Time!
Thistle
This is pretty much how I've been feeling lately. Bristley and poked. The mosquitos are horrible and they have drained my very last nerve. Tired of being bitten day in and day out. I am not a smorgasbord! I wonder, can mosquitos get cancer?

Purple Cone Flowers
Driving 70mph
My husband was flying down the highway when I had to grab my camera. The crop duster flew directly above us at one point, lol.
It looks like a roller coaster of a ride, but fun!
90 degree turns, almost touching trees.
It has to be amazing fun!

the locust
I can remember as a child, I was always thrilled to find the little brown shells that locusts left behind. I rarely saw the actually locusts but the little husks offered awe and hours of imagination. Sometimes I think it would be nice to shed our outer shells and get to start anew.

PS I grew up calling them locusts, maybe it's a Missouri thing, but yes, technically they are cicadas. :) From Wikipedia: Cicadas are sometimes colloquially called "locusts", although they are unrelated to true locusts, which are a kind of grasshopper. They are also known as "jar flies".

Handle with Care
Things are not always as they appear. I think this looks like a perfect flower. In reality, it's the underside of a mushroom. You never know what mushrooms are hiding in the lives of the people you meet. Handle with care.

Indian Pipe
Indian Pipe is one of those flowers that I longed to see in nature. Last year I finally saw some, but it was past it's prime. This year, I have been looking frequently in the same location and happened to spot it coming up. When it first emerges it's just a little white arch in the ground, then the next day the bloom was up a little more and each day the stem and bloom got higher. It has some droplets on it as it's emerging. To me, it's an amazing flower, one without color, and one that only grows where decaying leaves, trees and fungus are. It finds life in death.

Macro Monday TwoLips
Missing
Lately I've been feeling like something is missing. Something beyond what can be seen, there's a discontentment inside of me. I'm yearning for something, beyond housework and chores, beyond the daily routine. . . Think I just might need a vacation to somewhere exotic, or just down the road.

The Fiat is primed and ready for paint, we're thinking, blue, or red, or orange. . .something with white racing stripes. What color would you paint it?

SOOC #7 berries
One day, while sitting in my yard, the sun hit something bright red in the woods, I grabbed the camera and viola - berries.
sharp as a tack
The tree I stuck this tack into is getting off easy, it will have no scars from the poking. My body is a map of scars from this surgery or that. The scars are proof of life, and I embrace them.
