Hummingbird

IMG_0989

We don't normally have hummingbirds in our yard, so you can imagine the joy when I spotted one. I quickly hung up some food and he/she came back, time and again.

  3. I just love Hummers...they visit our feeder quite often...it is such a thrill to watch them. Not sure what kind your visitor is...we mostly have the Ruby Throated Hummers.

  8. We mostly have Ruby-throated Hummingbirds around here. They love my butterfly bush. I got a hummingbird book for my birthday, but haven't been able to use it much. I dug it out and think this might be a female Costa's, but I'm certainly no expert. Great shots!

  11. Super shots. I love the stop-action. I can't do that, my camera is too slow. Sigh.
Thanks for sharing them with us.

  23. Wonderful!!! Keep putting your feeders up .. they tend to return to where they found food. We get them every year and I enjoy them so much. They are hard to catch on film though ... you did awesome!

  24. What food did you give? Looks like a "yellow flower". :)

  25. Great photos :) Was this just recently? My parents have hummingbirds by them, but they said the hummingbirds left for the south for the winter in the middle of last month.

  27. They really are gorgeous, aren't they? And, once again, our minds are running on the same tracks, since I just posted about hummingbirds too!

  28. Hummingbirds are one of the most fascinating birds (and one of the most difficult to capture)...these are all just awesome...I'm in awe!

  29. OUTSTANDING captures! They aren't even blurry! You are such an amazing photographer!

  30. Well done! Aren't they exciting? Although I must mention that it's not supposed to be good for them to include red food coloring in their food. The red feeder will attract them just fine. Regular sugar in a ratio of 1 part sugar to 4 parts water is perfect for them (boil briefly and let cool). Congratulations on being right there and ready with that feeder, and your camera!

  31. Wow! Very impressive! I've been trying all season to capture the hummingbird that was visiting my flowers on the deck, it looks like next year I need to hang a feeder!
