Strawflowers in fall colors

PhotoStory Friday

One of my favorite flowers are Strawflowers (Bracteantha brateata). I actually only discovered them a couple of summers ago. I had a hanging basket full of yellow blooms all that summer.

So this spring I looked for some seeds when I went to plant. I found some and these are what grew from those tee tiny seeds.

I’m always amazed at how they feel like dried flowers even while freshly blooming.

  9. Those are stunning flowers! Since moving back to the midwest I'm finding that now some of my favorite flowers are actually fall bloomers! The Arizona desert doesn't have autumn, not like this!

  15. They are beautiful! Ands so is your photography. They look a little like a flower we have here in Australia called a paper-daisy. I don't know their other name. I wonder if they're related.
