Fuzzy Wuzzy One

Camera Critters

t1086

I really don’t know what this little fuzzy guy is but I found him fascinating. I know it’s some sort of worm or caterpillar, but check out his horns. He has black hair on his head and butt in shape of horns.

wiggly

And he wiggles lots! Tons of tiny little legs with kinda suction cup feet. He scurries quickly, here and there and makes my head spin.

t1090

Can you see the ridge of longer hair along his back, starting about midway, and getting longer as nearing the butt? Notice how his head tucks in and pops out as he moves.

t1091

In fact that last group of hairs along the ridge almost remind me of a tail. And I think he’s wagging it at us.

t1093

Hi!

t1095

And he’s off again. I hope he enjoyed his little portrait session. Sometimes I wish my macro was more zoomy, but I think you’ll understand when you see this.

tiny

That’s my finger, and yes I took the photo one handed, but you see how little he is? Simply amazing, or I thought he was. I like how you can see some of the little ‘hairs’ on the leaf.

Released, back into the wild. Bye!

  7. Isn't it amazing that under a macro lens some little critters, like this guy, are so cute? In the last picture he reminds me of a little Yorkie! Fantastic shots.

  8. Isn't it something how some caterpillars are creepy, but that little guy could claim pet status with his cuteness?

I loved your incredibly detailed photos, and the accompanying story. :)

  9. He looks like a fur animal, they should customize him and make some kind of kid's toy of him!

  17. Wow! Yes he/she is very pretty and amazing! I still have not tried the macro lense, I don't get time to drag it out!

Now as for your question about the bird on my post the other day, I could not for the life of me remember what it was called. But thought it was in Ibis. I thought no-one would notice (except maybe you, LOL, yes you were the only one who asked!) I called in the reinforcements, this time, Peter from Holties House, and he says........

"G'day Karisma, the bird in your photo is a Sacred Ibis ( I think sometimes mistakenly called Cattle Egret... which has a straight bill) they have become a scavenger of dumps and parklands." (They also harass Sydney siders for chips or just steal them when you are not looking!)

So there you have it, I was close! LOL! Many thanks to Peter, Karisma hangs her head in shame for not knowing her birds! Ha ha!

  21. Beautiful, Lisa. I wish I could take photos like that. Fly (or creep, or crawl) free, little guy. I enjoyed your photo session!

  22. Often I come over here and lurk and go away smiling but not saying anything.

Today's little guy is just so adorable tho Lisa. He really is a darling and who wouldn't want him as a pet maybe?

So tiny - so cute! So determined!

Simply fantastic photos Lisa. You are one of the reasons I had The Man buy us a better camera. Nothing like yours of course but I just wanted the chance to take some nicer pictures because of your inspiration. Thank you.
