A trip to the pumpkin patch

t1260

We took Twister to the pumpkin patch to pick up a pumpkin. And we showed great restraint and did only pick up one pumpkin, although we may have to go again.

t1262

He thought this one looked pretty good, but it was too heavy.

t1263

Of course he had to brush off his hands.

t1265

This one was light enough, although a little weird shaped.

t1267

But it got to heavy to take to the wagon.

t1270

After he put it down and brushed off his hands, he found one that was just right, perfect shape, and he could even carry it with one hand.

t1271

A boy and his pumpkin, the perfect pair.

t1272

Until he saw the straw fort. Just look at that face, I know it looks like he’s pleading to go play in the fort, and maybe he is, since I called his name to get him to look.

t1274

t1275

He found me!

t1277

I found him. I think he looks like he’s in a nest. And he was getting tired.

t1278

What’s this?

Good thing we took him when we did, it has just been raining since.

  2. Awww...the pumpkin series reminds me of Goldilocks! This pumpkin is too big...this one is too small (or oddly shaped)...but this one is just right!

Lisa, thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. I've just started reading back through your archived posts and am learning about your battle with cancer. You are just the sort of person I was talking about in my post - even though I've never met you, I am in awe of people like you who have dealt with/are dealing with cancer. Yep, I guess I have known a lot of people with the disease over the course of my life so far. It has figured prominently in my life since childhood (when I wanted to know why I didn't have a Grandma like the other kids). So to me, cancer has always been like my own personal boogeyman, lurking in the dark, never too far away. I am absolutely terrified of cancer "coming for me" - and there was a time 3-4 years ago when I thought that that time had come. (Yep, I am in my 30s but I have an almost childlike fear of cancer.) Anyway, I will continue to read your archived posts. Thanks for writing about your experiences so that others may learn. You are in my thoughts as you continue your recovery.

  5. Pumpkin patches are unknown to me. Down here, they sell pumpkins on the side of the road, or you can pick one up at the grocery store...can't go pick your own out of the field! Very picturesque! Cute memories!!

  10. What a delightful series of photos taken on your trip to the pumpkin patch. Twister is adorable! Doing these things with little kids (especially for the first time) is really wonderful isn’t it? I’m glad you got there before the rain started. I sure wish WE’D get some rain here.
    Hugs and blessings,

  12. Sweetest little guy! I miss those toddler days - full of innocence and wonder.

I'll trade you a snarky 14-almost-15 year old! Please? Pretty please? For a week, maybe?

  13. These are amazing, adorable shots. The colors are so crisp (doncha just love Canon?) and I can feel the freshness of the air through them. I love how he wipes the dirt off his hands after each pumpkin, then nests himself in the straw. Heee Heee. I don't have a little one nearby to take to a pumpkin patch, but that would be a great place to go for some photo ops. Hey, I have a pass to Silver Dollar City and they have a fabulous fall festival going on right now!! Hmmmm..... See ya later!

  20. I love pumpkin patches! We went on Tuesday for a field trip. My favorite pictures are always the "fort" ones. Little Twister is a Pumpkin Angel. What a sweet face to go with that story!

  23. How how cute is he walking and holding his little pumpkin. I love taking my son to the pumpkin patch... and takings lots and lots of photos. Of course now he's 16 and he just looks at me when I ask if he would like to go get a pumpkin.

Thanks for sharing such a cute moment.
