The tunnel Sooc #36

DSCF2109

Tunnels as a general rule don't make me too nervous. But this one in Custer State Park (South Dakota) caused me to fret a bit. It's only one lane, and both directions must use it.  Aren't those trees cool just clinging to the sides of the rock?

About halfway through the top opens up and it seems you're just in a crevice.

There's an area to park once you get through and we paused to look back the way we had come.

  5. This is a treat Lisa:
    What a beaut.
I love the rock and I would probably have my full headlights on to signal comers ahead. Pity it isn't for pedestrians as walking under it would be a wonderful experience.
Lots of trees and plants don't need soil (dirt?) and this proves it.

  11. Wonderful photos of the tunnel. It looks rather long and must have been quite claustrophobic feeling when you were driving though it.
