Bagged Milk

image

How do you get your milk?  We've bought ours in bags since we moved to Wisconsin, but I've never seen it this way anywhere else.  We get our Orange Juice this way too. :0)  Half gallon to a bag - our milk is 99 cents per half gallon.  There's even a drive thru dairy in Marshfield where we used to go a lot to get our freshly bagged milk, lol.

UPDATE:

Q: Is it shelf stable?

A: Nope, it's just like milk in the jugs, has to remain refrigerated.  It's simply in a bladder instead of a plastic jug or carton.

Q: Now....do you store it IN the bag?  It doesn't stand up well in the fridge does it???

A: Yep, it stays in the bag, I suppose you could pour it into something else if you wanted.  But in the store, near the bags, you will find plastic pitchers designed to hold you bag of milk or juice.  In the pouring area of the pitcher there's a slit to latch the bag into.  You see you just cut the top corner of the bag a bit, not the whole top.  Then you can twist it and slide it into the slit.  I'll take a pic of the pitcher tomorrow, what was I thinking? lol  I'll add it tomorrow.

  8. Nope, our milk comes in a plastic jug, but I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't something that the rest of us see one of these days. I would imagine that it costs less money. Your milk is certainly cheaper than mine!!

  9. If they did that over here, the bags would leak :-)
I loathe the smell of stale milk gone into soft furnishings.
    You never get it out.

  15. I get my milk in bags (Ontario), but about 1/3 of a gallon (3 in a pack) and not decorated in any way. That is an amazing price for milk. We are paying around $4.50 per gallon.

  16. In Ontario, Canada that's how milk is bought here. It's not the same across Canada. The hard part is getting the cow to put it in the bag.
