sooc #25 Scary-cool!

DSCF1778

I was surprised at how narrow the road (Going to the Sun Road - neat name too!) is going through Glacier National Park.  This is actually one of the wider places, lol.  There are a few tunnels, one lane, with traffic lights allowing one side through at a time.  Our first day there we had a gorgeous sky!

The next day, cloudy - was supposed to rain all day but we stayed dry most of the day.

I think it would be scary-cool to travel the road on a motorcycle!

But when we pulled over to take a peek I was more than a little nervous - look how close he parked me to the edge!  I was a little scared I would get dizzy and topple over, lol.

And it's a loooooong way down! Personally I loved that there weren't rails trapping us back, we were able to feel the thrill - but I was surprised at the lack of rails.

  2. I was driving the GTTS road several times this past September while in Glacier. It was narrow, but for some reason it didn't seem precarious to me...perhaps because there weren't many switchbacks? I dunno. I definitely wouldn't want to travel it in bad weather though!

  4. So that's what it looks like. We missed going there because the road was closed due to an avalanche. Beautiful!

  9. Wow, thanks for the trip. I haven't been to Glacier since I was young, you know 100 years ago. This road reminds me of the Road To Hana in Maui, scary.

  12. Wonderful shots! I remember traveling that road with children on a family vacation. It is amazing territory! I loved the monkey flowers which were blooming at the top of this road, and the mountain goats by the side. Thanks for the memories!

  15. Isn't this an amazing road? It is one of the reasons my family moved to Montana ... and every time we show it to someone, they are blown away. It is scary though!

  18. Wow, what a great view! Nice shots.

I don't like heights (mainly because there's a chance I can faaallllll), so I would probably have rolled down the window and shot from inside the car. :)
