The mice, Brodi and the Lightbox

mouse wanna cracker?

mouse wanna cracker?

The mice have went home now, but it doesn't stop Brodi from looking for them.
We babysat my daughter's mice while they were out of town - the mice are no longer in this world

where is he

We were contemplating making a lightbox similar to the one Sallad made but we weren't sure where we would put it when we weren't using it. So we opted to use foamboard to line a cubby in an old dresser. We were going to use velcro to hold it all to the sides but found we didn't need to. We put the bottom in, then the sides and back, leaving the top for last and sides and back hold the top up. We also used this real flexible write-on-wipe-off posterboard for the bottom and curved up the back wall so you don't have the line. We just taped some of the scraps together to kind of keep the mice in the box. As a side note, we're using fluorescent bulbs, not only because they use less electricity, but also because they run cooler.
If you can believe it, two years later and Brodi still runs to the box every time I use it, looking for the mice I assume, who said dogs have 7 second memories?!

  2. A lightbox. Yes, that's what I'm going to need too. And a new camera bag. Hmmm. I already have the 40D, I pinched it from my husband who does not work with it or cares for it much. It's a beginning ...

  3. When you have a choice, you really dont know which one to choose....but when you're only given one, you hope to have more to choose from....Poor mouse - so which one is nicer to eat?

    A dilemma!

    Happy New Year! :D

  4. I so admire your creativity and your generosity in sharing. Perhaps one day I'll make myself a light box ... it does look like fun and I do love to experiment. As for the memories of dogs ... methinks it's much longer than we imagine. I got carried away while sharing 'tamale-making' at Sacred Ruminations yesterday afternoon and evening ... and this morning I'm hoping to catch up on blog visits before the day actually begins ... just a couple of blessings of this retired life. Wishing YOU a lovely weekend ;-)
    Hugs and blessings

  17. I remember you doing a bit on building a lightbox from PVC pipe and plexiglass. This doesn't look like the same one though. I normally don't use one myself, but I've been known to use foam core artboard for a background. I have the same problem: Where to store it when not in use. I've got a few quick-takedown designs rolling around in my head, but haven't gotten around to building anything yet. Maybe while the weather's cold and I'm spending more time indoors I'll get around to that.

  18. I think the mice are cool, and, of course, I think Brodi is awesome. That's cuz I'm a dog addict, and my husband would literally divorce me if I tried to bring mice into our house. You know how everyone has a 'thing' they can't deal with like spiders, snakes, etc? Well, Hub's thing is "rats"... and "mice" are just miniature "rats". You should have seen him the time we had a bat in our house... bats are just "rats" with wings, so I was informed.

  19. Looks great! I haven't made mine yet, it's still on my list. I'm a little apprehensive about; cutting out the notches! But I like your idea of using a cubby from a dresser! I don't think I have anything like that. I saw a bunch of tutorials using boxes but alot of the reviews said it wasn't very sturdy. The one I found seems to be the best for me in terms of being able to take it apart when not in use. Hopefully I'll get it together soon! Keep bugging me til I get it done!
