Backyard Birding

lc1485

I love sitting and watching the birds at the feeders.

I took these as our days started warming and the snow began to melt, exposing hidden seeds, and attracting the Redpolls. Btw, our snow is almost completely gone from our yard now, only a tiny little pile remains.

It amazed me that she kept creeping closer to me.

And the Cardinal played peek-a-boo, the big fraidy cat.

I kept looking for a male Redpoll and finally found one. He wasn’t as friendly as the female.

But he was entertaining.

  6. I am so envious of your redpoles. We had one two weeks ago a fleeting visit. They aren't common garden birds here and I'm dying for her to come back. Asbsolutely stunning close ups.

I know we're supposed to have these lovely birds around here, but I've never seen on in my yard.

  25. Wow, I'm amazed that he came so close. You and your camera must be trusting individuals. Oh, the cardinal is probably my favorite bird. It's the state bird of Ohio, the state I proudly lived my first 18 years...............:)

  28. i LOVE this bird series (well, i always like your "winged" creatures shots)!... you must be very patient (and quite skilled) in capturing them in different poses... glad the snow is melting... waiting (and photographing) for these creatures outside would be easier without the cold weather...
