Off the Maine Coast

Camera Critters 1st Anniversary

lc2174

Have you ever seen a Puffin running across the water? Sure looks like he can walk on water to me.

lc2178

Can’t remember what these birds are called, but I thought they were pretty cool.

lc2179

Something startled up all the birds on the island and they all became airborne!  Like a scary movie!

lc2176

Notice the boat beached? There are people on the island studying the Puffins and other birds. The little white shack you see is where they “hide” to study the birds closely.

lc2175

And here’s another shack. The birds don’t seem to mind.

lc2180

Many kinds of birds find the island a great place to breed.

lc2181

I sure wish the Puffins would have come closer.

lc2182

But this is as close I got to one.

lc2183

Seals call another island home.

lc2184

It’s easy to overlook them in the water when they sit there bobbing while being curious.

lc2185

It looks like it would hurt to shimmy up on the rocks.

  11. Amazing photo of the puffin "walking" on water.
All are great shots. Wouldn't it be fun to be one of the observers in the little white shacks for awhile.

  12. The seals look so comfortable laying there on the rocks and that puffin does appear to be walking on water. I think it's great you guys got to see them in their natural habitat. Hope all is well. Have a great weekend.

  15. As a sort-of infamous blogger said about Puffins, they look like something that an eight-year-old girl would make up in her imagination. :o) What a great set of photos!
