red-bellied woodpecker
Do you ever find that things are just not where you thought you left them? Yeah? Me too! We're not going crazy, we just have a lot on our minds.

It's the first time I've seen one of these in my yard! Maybe he likes the new feeder we put out? The red on his head just seems to pop against all the drab colors here right now, it's almost fluorescent!

You'd think they would have named this a Red Headded Woodpecker. They are cool and very beautiful. What kind of food did you put out? I like to try different feeds to get different birds.
ReplyDeleteOh, he's gorgeous!! I saw one just yesterday at our feeder ... but I wasn't quick enough with the camera.
ReplyDeleteHe's beautiful and you got a great shot of him in the top photo. I've only seen a few around our yard but they don't stay long enough for me to take a picture of them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous capture of this red head...we don't have those here...what a beauty!
ReplyDeleteWe have regular visits from Greater Spotted Woodpeckers here in the UK. It looks very similar but ours doesn't have quite such a dayglo red. These are beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteWow, a natural redhead ... he's simply gorgeous. And the tree with the moss and fall leaves are just yummy!
ReplyDeletelove the top shot with the brown oak leaves in the background. We have flickers here
ReplyDeleteWe use to get these all the time at our old house ... we considered them a "premium" bird.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful creature captured wonderfully! It's a joy to watch it.
ReplyDeleteI have to ask: does he actually have a red belly? He's a cute little thing!
