I know that I did not edit the top photo, but to be real honest I don't remember if I did the bottom one. These have been sitting in a folder for some time.
My question to you (be honest please) - Did you notice that the butterfly was dead? I plucked him off the grill of my husband's van and posed him. For the second shot I had to pluck off two of his crackly wings - I still felt (feel) guilty about it. :(
My eye was drawn to the colors in your photo. So I didn't look close enough at the butterfly's body to realize that it was dead. The background, the flower and the yellow of the wings were the focal points for me. I love the way those colors react to one another. Then again - I am not wearing my glasses yet and so things are a bit blurry this morning.
ReplyDeleteFunny (I don't mean in the ha ha sense ) that you should feel bad - how many folks have taken dead bugs and stuck pins in them as they photograph them for study? Some of those shots have been amazing at helping people to see critters they may not normally see in wild.

No, I didn't notice that it was dead...I was marveling over the completeness of your photo :) I would have felt bad about plucking the wings, too, but he was gone, spirit already in flight into another world. We shouldn't feel bad, he shared what he had with you, with us through you :)

ReplyDeleteI didn't notice in the first one, but I did wonder about the second, since butterflies rarely sit with their wings open. The first shot is gorgeous, even if the poor thing is dead.
