Surprise! I'm still around. :)

I have been enjoying learning the birds in my new home state. :)  Here's a little canyon wren I found yesterday.  What have you been up to?

Macro Monday - Goldfinch

I love having the windowbox feeder and watching the birds so closely. :)

I think they enjoy watching me too, lol.

Tweedle, Deedle, Dee

The birds are quickly figuring out that there are feeders here now, they sing to me morning and night.

I survived my first night alone, wasn't nearly as scary as I feared it would be.  :0)

My alarm clock

Well, this one I happened to spot while riding with my husband earlier this week, but there is also one rat-ta-tat-ta-tatting in our yard every morning. I just love the Pileated Woodpeckers! Even though I never loved Woody Woodpecker, lol.

Look who I found :0)

Spring really IS here! Not only has most of the snow melted, the temperatures warmed above 60 (unusual for us this time of year) but the Robins have come back. :0)

Check back tomorrow to see who has been waking me up. . .

I couldn't believe I was lucky enough to look out the window at the same moment he decided to spin around on my suet.

Swallows

IMG_0910

An overcast day didn't make for the best of photos but I love these fast flying birds. How they swoop crazily over the water.

I keep seeing these nests in the areas where I'm seeing these swallows.  Are they from them? Do you know what kind of bird makes these nests?

I would love to have the energy of these birds!  They flit and dart and seem so full of life, somehow, just watching them brings me more energy.

Osprey with fish

DSCF4016

We managed to get the bikes out on the trail a few days ago and wouldn't you know the ospreys are back and have a nest of babies. Daddy osprey caught a fish and was up in the tree with it. AND, because I was on a bike ride I only had the point and shoot with me, dang it!

DSCF4017

I cropped one of the shots in - looks like he has damaged the fish. It sure was flopping about, but he held tightly to it.

DSCF4018

We still have quite a bit of water around, probably because we keep seeing snow and rain instead of sunshine, and we ran into a "closed" sign on the trail. This means we only had a 10 mile ride.

Tiny trinkets

IMG_5537

Sometimes I go to work with my husband. He spends longer driving to plants than he does inside the plant so, I ride along and keep him company. When he came out of the plant this time, he had a small brown bag and told me there were three things in it. I couldn't believe it.

IMG_5545

When I opened the bag I found a manatee, a bird and a frog (for my mom), each so small - and detailed!

The manatee's belly even looks accurate. :0)

Make sure you don't miss the signs, don't ignore them thinking they will go away, get to a doctor and get checked out.
