I love thongs! Yes, when I was a kid thongs went on your feet. I still slip up sometimes, forget to say "flip flops" and get an odd look from the younger generations. lol We finally stopped at Wall Drug on our last trip west and Dennis got me this cute Black HIlls Gold necklace along with the matching earrings and ankle bracelet. I was impressed that they made the bottoms look as accurate as the tops. :0)

ReplyDeleteI must admit I don't get the thing about thongs .. I mean 'flip flops' ... in jewellery, even though I love them as shoes too. Your little necklace is cute though, and yes! They underside is just as detailed!
ReplyDeleteThese days I tend to buy leather ones, but I can't survive summer without them!
It's hard for me to call then "flip flops" as I too have known them as thongs... Wonderful picture!!!
ReplyDeleteI used to call them thongs also. It does get some funny looks from my kids when I say that. what do they know?

ReplyDeleteThat's so cute! the flip flops are quiet popular with youngsters here, especially the branded ones. I don't quiet like them.
ReplyDeleteNice shot Lisa. Flip flops :)... I try to remember to call it that too...
ReplyDeleteVery nice macro - both in terms of your shot and in the details of the flip-flops.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was young we called them zories. I lived in a neighborhood with lots of Japanese neighbors, and that's what they called them. Now, I call them flip-flops. I love Wall Drugs. Dennis got you a great gift.
ReplyDeleteI love this shot I have a flip flop necklace too. I will have to take a capture of it.
ReplyDeleteAwesome macro. My sister collects flipflops, so I can relate :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd did you get ice water too? :) We loved watching and reading the signs as we approached Wall Drugs. It was a nice pit stop and a place to stretch our legs. The kids loved the animatronic dinosaur.
ReplyDeleteLove the little flip flop charm.
Oh, I love them, too! So cute.
ReplyDeleteToo cute! I want one! ;-)
ReplyDeleteLOL, tell an American you are wearing a thong around your neck and they would think you are too weird! cute thong though and great macro
ReplyDeleteI love the way the little sandal is swinging off the chain!
ReplyDeleteThat's really cute and so original ! I can't wear flip flops it hurts me between my toes !

ReplyDeleteLove the details on the flip-flop and I love your photos. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat macro and details.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I've never been able to wear them, in either form - perhaps I should persevere.
ReplyDeleteI believe they're still called thongs in Australia - I saw a very amusing cartoon a while ago, with two women walking along the beach with flip-flops sticking out of their behinds!
Very nice! And, I still call them flip-flops! :)
ReplyDeletecute!
ReplyDeleteI used to have the exact same necklace...it was a favorite!
ReplyDeletea lovely flip flop
ReplyDeleteI've only known them as flip flops, but I can imagine the looks you get when you call them thongs! :) And that's a very cute little flip flop, too!
ReplyDeleteGreat macro. I wonder how small they are?
ReplyDeleteLisa, Those little flip-flops have amazing detail! Love it!
ReplyDeleteYes, extremely cute. I also get odd looks when I talk about wearing thongs as a kid. I love the jewelry and the back is perfect. Unworn, of course!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love the feet kind of thongs, too! =D Sometimes I say it wrong just to get a rise out of the other kind of thong wearing kids and grandkid!
ReplyDeleteLOL!! This starts to get scarry :D You take a charm today, I came with beads... Just like when I took the pencil sharpening and you told me you did one like that just a while ago!
ReplyDeleteI love the details you managed to get so sharp on these photos. And yes (LOL) I got questionmarks floating above my head when I started reading about you loving thongs.... :D :D :D I did have the other association ;)
Thanks again for a great Macro Monday. It was the very first thing I did when I managed to get my lazy me out of bed... which felt like a brilliant start of the day :D
xoxo Monica
sweet little silver flip flops :)
ReplyDeleteLove your flipflops. I was never able to wear these. My foot was a flipflop on its own! LOL. My sister always wore them though. In the 60s and 70s.
ReplyDeleteThey are very much timeless, aren't they? The photos much bring up lots of memories with people, I think.
A great subject matter for the Monday.
My thumbnail went a bit haywire at first. Hence there being two of them!
Great macros, Lisa! I made it to the computer and posted this week's macro in spite of almost insurmountable odds. Whew! Happy MM ya'll.

What a cute necklace-- They were definately called thongs in Tx in the 70s and 80s-- not sure when the flipflop started but it must have been when that torturous underwear came out!!!
ReplyDeleteone of my speech therapy books was printed in the 2000s and has a picture of thongs for practicing the initial /th/ sound--- a photo of shoes not undies but I usually skip over it...
I can imagine in this day and age, you might get a look if you say "thongs." : )
