Macro sooc #23

IMG_0512

This is the same deceased butterfly I shared recently. I was able to pose him on the plant and take a quick pic.  Then I lengthened the exposure and we're able to see the hairs on his wings.  The wind was blowing mightily so we can see more of the flower in the first shot, and I did move slightly, but close to the same view.

Experiment sooc #22

IMG_0297

I know that I did not edit the top photo, but to be real honest I don't remember if I did the bottom one. These have been sitting in a folder for some time.

My question to you (be honest please) - Did you notice that the butterfly was dead?  I plucked him off the grill of my husband's van and posed him.  For the second shot I had to pluck off two of his crackly wings - I still felt (feel) guilty about it. :(

Scary sooc #21

IMG_8725

As I browsed a huge graveyard of large fiberglass molds used to make big things, I came upon a Devil I knew would be perfect for a Halloween SOOC. Hope you all have a happy, safe Halloween. :0)

If you didn't already know, add a little uplighting for a scary effect. ;)

sooc #20 World's Largest Holstein Cow

DSCF1633

First I have to thank Jan, because of this meme I was able to share this whole series without tweaking first. Love it! Salem Sue is reported to be the World's Largest Holstein Cow and you can see her from miles away, I believe I read it's 5 miles that she can be seen.

She peeks over tall trees as you drive up to see her.

Dennis decided he was thirsty, hope he doesn't drown.

She had gas, and boy did it smell! ;0)

There's someone to look up to.

Please don't step on me!

We walked further up the hill from Sue and when I turned to look back I was impressed with how far I could see. It had me singing, "I can see for miles, and miles, and miles. . ."

Just a cool truck at a wedding. I was walking by and snapped and liked it just how it was.

I really love thistle blooms!

Even the buds are pretty cool!

I don't like when my bare foot finds a thistle. Ouch!

sooc #16 Leopard Lily (Silver Squill)

IMG_0107

I've already confessed that my green thumb is really more brown, but for some reason the Leopard Lily and I get along pretty good.

IMG_0111

She has been blooming continually for about a year now. She usually only blooms in the summer, but she must like that I put her outside for the summer and bring her in in the winter.

IMG_0111b

I love her dainty blooms. :) She is seeming a little crowded in her pot lately, but I'm scared to transplant her. I'm not exactly sure how to get her out of the pot without breaking it. And I can't break the pot, we bought it in Mexico on our honeymoon.

This photo is the same plant in 2008.  Oh my gosh!  She really does need repotted!

SOOC #15 Looking up ;0)

IMG_6706

I love looking at flowers from a different angle. :0)  First I have to get down really low and pretend to be an ant.  I wonder what my neighbors think.

SOOC #14 - the bee

IMG_0095

I am ever amazed at how much braver I am when hiding behind the lens. Normally I flee from bees, but this one drew me in.

IMG_0098

He flitted and flew and was so hard to follow!

And while he was flitting around this damselfly rested peacefully.
