Beach Bums

IMG_3443

I think I need to spend more time on the beach. ;0) I love how his eye is closed here. It seems dreamy.

So, I think he's too big to be a Spotted Sandpiper but I'm not really sure what he is. Any ideas?

Have a closer look.

Slightly smaller than a gull, but not as small as a sandpiper.

I think he's cute no matter what he is.

Tiny Sandpiper.

Remarkable how similar their colors are and structure, almost look like a mom and a babe but I don't think they are.

Some sort of Tern?

  1. Your first bird is a Willet, the little guy is a Sanderling (don't they move fast?) I think, your tern is a Forster's. Looks like what you were seeing in Florida is pretty similar to what I was seeing in Texas, which is probably the only reason I have a clue on the identity of your birds! Heading home to Nebraska. Looks like the rest of my trip will be in the rain. Ugh

  10. I do love your feathered 'beach bums' ... and find myself captivated by birds like these when I'm at the beach ... though I confess I have no clue just what they're officially named. Thanks for making your entire post available in your feeds making it much easier for me to 'catch up' in my reader when I fall behind. I do love your photographs always.
    Hugs and blessings,
