Oogly Scavenger

While Dennis waited in the car I walked closer to the Turkey Vulture and clicked away. The bad thing is, I had to get within 10' of his dinner (a raccoon) to snap him.

He didn't go far though, I bet he was afraid I was going to eat his stinky dinner.

  3. I try to appreciate turkey vultures, but they are one of the ugliest, ickiest birds I know of...I try to remember Regina's motto...

  8. These are absolutely great pictures. Yesterday I was fortunate enough to take some pics of three vultures in a tree. Though my pictures aren't nearly as good. I have to learn my camera. Have a great day.

  9. great shots. We have a lot of Turkey Vultures in our area right now. They roost in some very tall cottonwoods about 5 blocks away. It's so fun to watch them swirling and whirling in the breeze, there must be hundreds of them. It looks a little like a lazy tornado.

    You know about a month ago was vulture appreciation day. I see turkey vultures all of the time, but hardly ever this close up.
