Wire mesh, and spike were supposed to keep birds off the old architecture - but the birds saw the metal pieces as great places to hold on to.

  12. i enjoyed this tour! i am struck by how sharp all of your photos are lisa. i get so frustrated with my own shaky captures. you'd think i was 86 instead of 56! i need to go to the gym more i guess...sigh.

  15. I love the rich history of the east. It's nothing to Europe, but compared to where I grew up (not far from you), it seems so much older and permanent. Where I live how actually has an older history of civilization, but it is so different than the East. Your pictures tell a terrific story.

  16. I worked a few blocks from Independence Hall. I always went in that direction for my lunchtime walks. I have a good closeup of the liberty bell that I took in 1970 or thereabouts (before they put it in jail). Also have a shot of the interior of Independence Hall. I found the slides today. When I have time, I'll scan them.
