We stopped at a cache one day, here in Wisconsin, that was near a lake. I walked to shore to see what I could see and I found a tree of Commorants! My first time seeing them in Wisconsin!
With Dennis’ help, some maneuvering through the woods got us closer.
Would have loved to get even closer, but that wasn’t to be.
They could hear us, but not see us, and we feared making them leave.
Fantastic captures....simply beautifully captured shots!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I have never seen one in the wild. Looks like this discovery trumped the cache that day!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen one either! How wonderful.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of these unusual birds! I love the blues & greens in these pictures!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, I didn't know they roosted in trees.
ReplyDeleteThat first picture is so surreal, it looks like a paper cut-out of tree and birds against a photo of the sky - and that one bird with his mouth open, amazing!

Graceful and strange birds. I am glad you got as close as you did.
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing the movie The Cormorant with Liam Neeson that seemed to get at this feeling these birds can create.

ReplyDeleteand... with the return of the Bald Eagle in such numbers -- and less fish for the eagles -- The Eagles are eating the young of the endanged Cormorants.
