On our way home from Maine we decided to stop in Salem, Massachusetts. . . Tell me you’re not surprised to see they have crosswalks for witches.

While the main reason for my visit to Salem was the witch trials, the area is full of history. Like Independence Park, where the Declaration of Independence was read July 17, 1776.

    So glad to see you in my state!! I've only been to Salem for business, never for sightseeing, which is always the problem when you live in a state.

    We stopped by there when we dropped my big brother off at college. At the time, I had been reading about the witch trials in school and thought it was the coolest place to visit.

    I would love to visit Salem. I love the way Massachusetts markets itself--by giving us everything we expect. Very good.

    And I love the way ol' Ben Franklin and the boys understood PR. Must have been really exciting to hear the Declaration read. Anyway, it's nice to think of it from the safety of my own century.

    Glad you enjoyed yourself in Salem. There's so much to do in that area. Halloween is a crazy time of year there.
    There are wonderful shops and restaurants and so much history! I find something new every time I go to Salem.

    We visited here when I was a kid but I don't remember too much about it. I do love the play "The Crucible" though ... and the movie was fantastic too -- the one with Daniel Day-Lewis and Joan Allen. Such a sad thing.
