An odd find in the woods.
Wonder how it came to be there.
What do you think its story is?
Macro Monday is easy to play, snap a macro (or any close-up) photo, post it on your blog and come back here and sign Mr Linky. Don't forget to visit each other. :)
Great photos. Isn't it neat to discover old items slowly returning to the land!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos ... I wonder what was hidden inside! It reminds me of the scene in "A Fish Called Wanda" where he opens the safe and yells, "Disappointed!!!"
ReplyDeleteHappy Macro Monday ... and tell Dennis I'm sending good internet vibes to him.
xo
Maybe DB Cooper dropped it? Maybe you should call Geraldo!
ReplyDeleteDon't know how far in the woods you were; but it's an awfully big piece for someone to cart there just to dispose of it.
ReplyDeleteMaybe hobo territory at one time. :)
Love the macros!
Prayers for both you and Dennis.
Interesting to see that it has wheels on the bottom. Makes an easier getaway:)
ReplyDeleteMine is here: Capturing Tranquility
my guess is the mob. then again i am italian, we always think "mob" first.
ReplyDeleteOh my, this is exciting and at the same time it could be very puzzling. A million stories come to mind!
ReplyDeleteB.
Maybe the safe was stolen and got ditched out in the woods. Great set of photos... very interesting subject.
ReplyDeleteI just did my first Macro Monday today. Let me know what you think!
I say it had something to do with Dillenger, that's my theory and I'm sticking to it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find. Interesting safe box in the woods.
ReplyDeleteThere may be more.
Excellent!
I wonder WHAT that is?
ReplyDeleteThat's really bizarre! Fun photo op though, great shots!
ReplyDeleteThe safe was lifted (with great difficulty) by the Bumbling Burglar Brothers. They grunted, pushed, pulled, wrestled the safe out of the big house and finally got it into the bed of their pickup truck. They drove deep into the woods to crack their prize. Took hours. Check around for nasty old empty beer cans. The brothers (and their cousins) drank an entire case before they abandoned the empty safe. The beer helped ease the pain -- there was nothing in the safe.
ReplyDeleteJohn
What is this? So interesting! :D
ReplyDeleteIt's sometimes amazing what you find in woods, coincidence I found also something odd, while photo hunting in the woods, lol
ReplyDeleteI sure would like to know the story, great series.
ReplyDeleteStolen! Definitely a stolen safe that someone had to stash!! Great pics Lisa!!
ReplyDeleteHow cool is that - stolen perhaps!! Great shots!! Sarah
ReplyDeleteI agree it was probably stolen. I would report it to the police it may solve a cold case mystery. Heck, there may even be a reward.
ReplyDeleteGreat find though. My sister has one just like it that has been handed down for generations in her husbands family.
an odd find indeed, but it made for some great pictures
ReplyDeleteLooks like the remnants of a robbery. is it open? perhaps you should report it.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe you found that in the woods?
ReplyDeleteSo far the coolest find ever, I think.
I sure do wonder about the story too :)
Great photos an dit sure makes your imagination run. I think someone stole it in believe they should find something reallt waluable inside.
ReplyDeleteHow bizarre, but indeed a great photo opportunity! It's amazing what we stumble upon sometimes!
ReplyDeleteFor sure there's a story there. What a cool find!
ReplyDeleteWow...that's a cool find! Great captures.
ReplyDeleteThere is something still in this safe. Someone has tried to pry it open unsuccessfully. We pushed it over once and heard the contents rattle a bit. Makes me want to go back with some tools!
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa,
ReplyDeleteAwesome photo! I'm like you, how did that get there and why leave it. Will probably never know. Mine is posted. Have a great day!!
Sherrie
Very cool! This could be the start of a great mystery novel...
ReplyDeleteVery cool shots of this interesting find. I wonder at its story as well!
ReplyDeleteSpirithelpers
looksl ike someone tried to burn it open
ReplyDeleteDefinitely been stolen... the theives unsuccessfully tried to get it open... cops were hot on their trail, so they ditched it and ran to Mexico ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find in the woods. I would have to take this find home with me to explore it closer. :) Hope all is well. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteSo what was inside?
ReplyDeleteYears ago in New York City my parents had a break-in. My stepfather fixed watches at home and had a hidden safe in the wall. The burglars took our own tools from the garage and removed the safe and carted it away. I do believe the safe was found later, empty of course. I was a teenager, and let me tell you, it was traumatic, as they stole my jewelry, such as it was, and other precious things.
ReplyDeleteI would say to notify the police. You never know when you might be instrumental in closing an old, cold case.
You DO find the most interesting things to photograph and share ;--)
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Way Cool!!!
ReplyDeleteGeez, Louise. I knew I dropped that somewhere. No wonder I can't seem to balance the check book! I'll be over to get it later, Lisa!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots.
Hello, I´m new here and just love your photos! I´m going to try to participate next Monday.
ReplyDeleteHow unusual. No clue how it came to be there... *shrugs* Let's start a rumor about it!
ReplyDeleteWow, do you think it was from some crazy robbery many years ago - what a mystery! Not sure if I'll have time to play along this time. Have a great week! :-)
ReplyDeleteSomeone stole it, couldn't break into it, and dumped it. That's my story and I'm sticking with it!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a find in the woods. I wonder if someone didn't steal it and then run to the woods to try and crack it open in hiding. lol!
ReplyDeleteToo bad it was already open, it would have been so much more intriging if it were closed & you had to wonder what it held!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots:)
So that's where the money is!
ReplyDeleteit certainly didn't get there by itself.. what a weird thing.
