Warrior Dash 2013 - Hastings, Minnesota - Just do it!
For the last year my feet and I have struggled, it started May 2012 with a stress fracture to my right foot. Because of that fracture I didn't get to run in the Minnesota Warrior Dash (my son took my place). I did get to participate in Dirty Girl, Tough Mudder and various 5K's later in the summer though my feet hurt every single time.
Today I got to tackle the MN Warrior Dash. It's held at Afton Alps ski area and much of it is uphill, the cardiovascular portion of it is tough because of that. The rest of the course was great, fun obstacles.
Last year's t-shirt and medal on the left; this year's t-shirt and medal on the right.
These feet, right here, I'm finally doing something right. Earlier this year I broke two toes on the right foot (two different incidents), and still my feet were hurting most days. I finally went to my doc, who verified I had recently broken two toes and told me that I have arthritis in my feet. She recommended ice and naproxen.
Since then I've also started taking TriFlex Sport (Glucosamine, Chondroitin and more) and increased my fish oil. I made it through the dash without ANY foot pain, even though my fitbit One shows I logged over 10,000 steps and 74 levels (flights of stairs). I'm so happy I think I'll do the happy dance!
Dennis's 2012 medal and MY 2013 medal/bottle opener - it's a shame I don't drink beer, lol.

Maggie Moo's
We had a horrible, bland dinner at Champps [(maybe the double 'p' should have clued us in) afterwards husband looked them up on Urbanspoon, if we had looked first we would not have stopped]. So we treated ourselves to some Maggie Moo's.
Being the great guy he is, he let me choose my two ice cream cupcakes first. :) I shared them with my MacBook, lol.
Wish us luck, it's an early morning as we make our way to Afton Alps to participate in the Warrior Dash. If you're not familiar with it, it's a 5k mud run with obstacles. Should be loads of fun, and loads of mud.

Muscial Mailboxes & Driveway
They are working on our road and one morning I went out to find my driveway nearly gone. Luckily, I have a Jeep. No driveway, no problem. Also, notice my mailbox across from the driveway, a little to the left.
Later that day the dozer made my driveway a huge drop off, a little hard to tell from this photo, but it drops significantly.
And still later. . .they said it would be a three hour job, lol. It took all day. Also notice my mailbox is now gone.
My house on the left of the picture. They're actually moving the road away from us a bit. Putting in a large ditch and shoulder too. If you look towards the white house on the corner you will see my mailbox in front of it. It spent a couple of days there, then I woke up this morning to see. . .
Yep, the mailboxes are inside my driveway, the mailman will have to pull on in, lol. I think I like this placement the best. No more playing frogger to get the mail.

Fibi is scared
There is a thunderstorm and Fibi is shaking but will not come to me. Instead she waits outside the shower for Dennis. I guess she feels he can protect her better.

My dogs love veggies
Tonight's dinner
My January resolution, if I had one, was to eat more fresh fruits and veggies. My dogs have quickly learned that I'm a messy chopper. When I grab the veggies, or fruit, and knife they hover close by. Tonight their favorite was the cauliflower.

Butcher block tip
If you have a butcher's block you know that you're supposed to oil it regularly. We oil ours weekly. If you have priced the butcher block oil (mineral oil) you know it is quite pricey. We use mineral oil from the pharmacy for under $2 a bottle. It is safe for your food prep area as it intended to be taken by mouth.

The Fun Begins
Ever since we moved into this farm house we have been dreading this day. The road crews have taken out all the trees hiding that house. Monday they will demolish the house and start widening the road. The road is getting shoulders, which it needs badly, but it's also getting turn lanes. Since there is a grotto on this corner, hidden by the trees, the historical society stepped in and all of the road changes are taking place on that side of the road. I am not looking forward to trying to come and go for next month or more.
This road project is further down the same road - between us and town - and has been going on for well over a month now. The are cutting down the hill to help people see further. This is an intersection and the roads used to be up there at the top of the hill. It looks like they're getting close - they laying the grass on the mounds they've left and one of the roads is leveled.

Morel Macro Monday
I almost ran over some morel mushrooms with the mower! Instead, husband cut them up and had them with a steak.
If you haven't made it over to my new blog you may not know that I have a new baby granddaughter now. :) She was born on my 10th wedding anniversary, last Friday. She's perfect in every way!
I'm so thankful to tell you that Macro Monday will live on, you will find your new spot to link over on the new host's website: Macro Monday 2 Thank you once again for playing along with me through the years.
