Remains of Santa Fe Trail

The walkways are built over the ruts left behind from all the wagons.  Isn't it amazing to think of all the hoofs and wheels that crossed through here so long ago?

And on the other side of Dodge City is the 100 meridian marker.

  1. Just like you said, trying to imagine all the hoofs and wagon wheels that passed that way, well for me it is difficult to imagine. As we followed portions of the Oregon Trail last year I was impressed with the determination of the early pioneers taking weeks to cover the very same ground I just did in a matter of hours. The Sante Fe Trail is another one for me yet to explore.

  2. 2 fun posts. My dad took us to Dodge City once. It was such a fun trip. It looks a bit different than I remember. No plaques or statutes. I would like to go for another visit sometime. Maybe Hubby will take me, he loves westerns.
