Butterfly Project

A few weeks back I asked for some help with my butterfly quilt.  Nearly immediately I had two people send wonderful fabrics!

My friend, Amy, sent these fabrics and I made two butterflies out of each fabric.  Aren't they wonderful?!  Especially fun to have a monarch wing print to make wings, lol.

My friend, Jan (author of many blogs, but I think you can access them all from the one linked to her name) sent these gorgeous additions.  Wouldn't mind finding a leopard winged butterfly out in the wild, lol.  I also made two from each fabric here, the little circles inside square fabric is now put together, lol.  All butterflies will have black appliquéd bodies eventually.

I have received a few other fabrics and will be posting them later.

Thank you ladies!!! :0)

Snails and Snow ~ Macro Monday

I recently went geocaching and while walking along the frozen shoreline came across these snails amongst the ice. So many of them, so odd.

Although it's hard to see the ice, all of these are frozen beneath the water too.

Penguin Macro Monday

I found a batch of zoo pictures I had forgotten all about. Hope you don't mind that I am sharing a penguin close up, instead of a true macro. :0)

Missing the chaos

For the longest time I was so good about snapping a photo of the crew when we managed to get them all together. However, this last year I haven't been as good about it. I think they're out of practice. . .notice Haden is under the couch, lol.

Falling. . .

This was the last time we'll have them all together for. . .well, I'm not sure how long. . .my daughter and her family moved back to Missouri last weekend. I miss them all terribly already. :(  Our gatherings of 10 have been cut nearly in half.  And the baby of the group is now 19, instead of 3. :'(

Kansas metal sculptures

The Coffe Cup collection was surrounded by a lot of metal. . .art?

What do you see?

Wisconsin winter fun

When winter comes to Wisconsin our lakes freeze and we have more space to play. Dunk the clunk!

You can place bets as to when the car will fall through the ice. When the clunk disappears you know spring is here, lol.

World's Largest Coffee Cup Collection?

Looks like the collection has gotten a little smaller over the years.  A little town in Kansas.

Clearly Macro Monday

I just remembered I had these sitting in a file on my computer. This past summer, I found this fellow sitting on the bubbles in my kitchen sink. I plucked him out and snapped some photos. :0) Unfortunately, I think the bubbles did him in. :0(

Remains of Santa Fe Trail

The walkways are built over the ruts left behind from all the wagons.  Isn't it amazing to think of all the hoofs and wheels that crossed through here so long ago?

And on the other side of Dodge City is the 100 meridian marker.
