Oops, sorry, I thought I already had this one in the cue, then got home to find I didn't. We're back from vacation and I missed you all! I'll be working on getting around to visit with everyone and I can't wait to tell you all about our trip!

Macro Monday is easy to play, snap a macro (or any close-up) photo, post it on your blog and come back here and sign MckLinky.  Don't forget to visit each other.  :)

  5. Pennies are handsome coins but what's the point? The copper content of each is worth 3X the face value. Nice shots Lisa. Welcome home to the lands of snow and ice and brrr.

  8. Hello! I didn't realize there are new pennies. For shame on me, since I was a coin collector as a child and teenager. Your photos are always a treasure to behold!

  10. I love the details in these, all shiny bright and new. I use my debit card so much I am not certain I've even seen a penny lately!

  12. Oh, those pennies are SO much nicer than our new ones. Ours just look horrible and half-done. The design (which is a nasty, incomprehensible 'modern' design) kind of slips off the edge of each one so it looks as if the stamping machine missed. We used to have Brittania in her chariot, or a the portcullis from the Tower, a wren, native flowers, famous ships, a coat of arms etc on our coins - meaningful things. Now they could all come from a remote area of South America for all the sense they make to me. So sad.

Yours are wonderful. Beautifully lit and photographed, they represent your country. And they're instantly recognisable, as they should be.

  15. I always liked the 'Wheat' penny, hated the back of the 'Memorial' penny, but LOVE the back of these new pennies.

  17. I had no idea that we had new pennies. I don't use cash very often any more but I will definitely be on the lookout for these. My son was asked to bring pre-1982 pennies to chemistry class because the newer pennies did not have enough copper content for their experiment to succeed.

  21. I did not get the memo about the new penny!!! They do look kind of nice.

  22. I got a small bag of our one cent coins, they are not widely used as prices are marked up/down to the nearest 5 cents and we can only legally used these in small number. Ended up as 'unusable' money here!

  23. I have seen these. They are wonderful. I love the way our coins tell our stories. This is great for collectors but better for the rest of us. It's fun to get change.

  24. Such great details on the new pennies... I'll not get to see them myself for real until our next trip home to the US, so fun to see these now. Welcome back, Lisa! Look forward to news & photos of your trip. :o) ((HUGS))
