Just a few odds and ends found on a beach near Jacksonville. The morning lighting seemed to be perfect to bring out the colors. Ahhhh.

I found these in a couple of spots but have no clue what made the little sand balls.

  1. I love beachcombing! You found some great stuff there, too! I love the little sand balls - I believe these are usually made by worms burrowing into the wet sand to await the next tide.

You're right, the colours are great!

  3. OK, a couple of things. One, how wierd is that - we both did a post involving sand balls! I actually wrote this post before I came here to sign up to the MckLinky and what do I find, sand balls - spooky!. Two, Jay, how did you get your link in before mine - it wasn't there before I put mine in!

  4. These are interesting little finds. It does look like snow although somehow I don't think it feels the same as snow.

  8. I remembered seeing those sand balls in beaches in Krabi, Thailand, It makes such beautiful pattern on the sands, and I think those are made by the tiny beach hermit crabs?
Your photos make me want to go on a 'treasure hunts' by the beach! awesome.

  18. I love the beach shots. All of them are so beautiful! I always thought the sand balls were made by the tiny sand crabs as they dig in to the sand near the water. Grew up near the beach myself and I miss it like crazy!

  28. Hi! I just wandered in, and am I glad I did! I am so inspired by your photos, and by the fact that you've only been (sort of officially) a photographer for a few years. My interest has just recently turned more serious with the acquisition of a Canon 50D--what a Christmas gift! I am now on a mission to learn what the heck my camera can do...and to try to make it do it! :) Unfortunately, I'm stumbling along on my own, and I'm happy enough with that for now while I experiment. Anyway, I absolutely LOVE your photos, and I am going to try to participate in Macro Monday next week! YAY!! I'm going to add the button to my blog to remind myself! LOL!
