Fortunate Macro Monday

Macro Monday is easy to play, snap a macro (or any close-up) photo, post it on your blog and come back here and sign Mr Linky. Don't forget to visit each other. :)

What is up with fortune cookies nowadays?! They don't really predict the future or give nice thoughtful quotes.

fortune cookie

:) We are very happy together :)

There are so many things wrong with that 'fortune' that I don't know where to start. Since I went with the literal translation, I assume that 'we' means the fortune cookie and I, so. . . I ate it. I have to say that I don't feel any happier for it. Maybe I should eat the paper.

Don't forget to sign Mr Linky.

  1. I'm with you on this. Most fortune cookie, fortune strips really suck, big time. I think the ones from the big chains like Pick up Sticks and Panda Express have gotten so cautious their fortunes are generic.

  2. I totally know what you mean! I hate when they are just sayings and not fortunes! I want something that tells me what is going to happen in the future ... not some random saying that is in no way a fortune. Something really must be done about this problem.

  3. We have a chinese place around here that hands out (on request) dirty fortune cookies, definitely not fortunes :)

  4. Years ago, just before I left for Europe, I had one that said something like: You will travel far.

Then there was the time when we were out with the kids and the littlest, still in diapers, got one that said: You will have a change soon.

A gift certificate to a local Chinese restaurant was on our auction list. My job on the committee was photographing the items and presenting them in a slide show as the auctioneer was doing his spiel. Photos to go with gift certificates especially sell the item. We went to dinner at the restaurant and I was busy taking pictures of everything we were eating so that I could have something for the slide show. My fortune was perfect for the photo: You'll be invited to dine in an adventurous place.

  5. I don't know. We are happy together, aren't we? Maybe the wish is for "very."
Hey!! We could all make homemade fortunes for new years - no cookies, per se, per cyber space (unless you have a the best fortune cookie recipe then please share OMG).
We could post our fortunes on 01/01/2009! Ring in the New Year!!

  6. I only hope that a couple discussing their divorce doesn't get such a cookie, lol !

Cute idea for a macro though!

  9. Chuckles here...we just ate Chinese on Christmas Day and no fortune cookie given to us. Don't care about the "fortune" but do like the almond flavor and crunch of the cookie :-)

  10. Hi Lisa,
Great shot! I would have to agree, that wasn't much of a prediction. I don't get them for the prediction anyway. I just love to eat the cookies, they are really good! My Macro is posted. Have a great New Year!

  14. That is actually pretty funny. I can't remember who's post I was reading the other day but someone got a fortune cookie without a fortune. Talking about very odd.

Anyways, hope your having a wonderful Monday.

    Take care

  16. Yummy! Fortune Cookies. Nothin' better unless it's Gingerbread Men Cookies.

I don't have a Macro photo at my place today, but I do have a post about a MICROwave. Is that close enough to sign up?

  17. I know! Whoever writes those things should be fired, for heavens sake. I guess the smilies are supposed to make it all better!

  18. Yeah, the fortunes have gotten more bland than the cookies. Even when you add the prescribed suffix ("in bed" for those who don't know) they're getting pretty unexciting. Although, depending on the "we" in this one, it could get interesting.

    Nice photos though!

  19. Hi Lisa,

A belated Merry Christmas to you and a Happy New Year. You're right Fortune cookies are corny and they are always so "positive."

  20. Merry Christmas!

We haven't gotten chinese in such a long time that I've forgotten how cool the fortunes are! When i was in residency every night I was on call in the NICU with one particular doc - we ordered chinese - I collected quite a few fortunes. I left there thinking If I never eat Chinese food again, I'll be a happy woman. Of course that was an exaggeration since I'm missing it right about now! LOL

  21. I usually just eat the cookies and don't really pay any attention to what the message says.

  22. OK ... so as a 'fortune', it's lame. But as an image ... Whoa! Great texture in that cookie!
Could you feel that texture over your tongue and sliding down your throat?
Hmmm. Makes me want to go raid the Christmas cookie jar!

    Lovin' Macro Monday!

  24. - Just a quick note to say I'm not sure why Mr Linky always puts a smiley face next to my URL but it's starting to look a little obnoxious! and it isn't my fault. :(

  25. LOL! I haven't seen any fortunes telling me how I am feeling at the moment. Kind of funny though! I'll have to come back and play Macro Monday sometime.....as I love getting up close and personal with my pictures.

  27. Sometimez fortune cookies are just weird ... other times they're uncanny. I actually TRIED to take some macro shots this week ... alas without much success, but I'll continue to experiment and perhaps one day join in your Monday Macro Meme.
In the meantime I'll enjoy yours ;--)
    Hugs and blessings,
