When you think of a sandy beach you probably don't think of snow too.
But it's a common occurrence on Wisconsin beaches!
Macro Monday is easy to play, snap a macro (or any close-up) photo, post it on your blog and come back here and sign MckLinky. :) MM started on Sept 29, 2008 - Thanx to all of you for helping make it such a fun start to the week!
I assume there will be lots of snow on here this week! :) Your captures are too cool, tho. Never seen that, for sure.
ReplyDeleteI must admit that I do NOT think of sand and snow together! hehe
ReplyDeleteWe don't get snow on the beach, here, but I know they do up in WA. ( No macro from me this week.)
ReplyDeleteYears ago when my stepdad and Mom came to see us when we still lived in Virginia we took him to see the ocean that he had never seen before.
ReplyDeleteIt was cold and on that day it snowed. It was the first time I had seen snow on the beach and the last. :)
I love the second shot! It reminds me of an ice cream sandwich.
Outstanding! When we were down at the OBX for Xmas, we had a snowstorm. An unsual - and beautiful - occurrence!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is a combination not often thought of. I assumed it would look more muddy/slushy. The delineation is great in your images.
ReplyDeleteLove it! That snow has a habit of showing up in the darnest places!
ReplyDeletewell, you can see the sand anyway.... can't copy that over here right now. Great Macros, I'm going seasonal this time (and I found a theme that fits to ;-) )
ReplyDeleteThis does seem wrong somehow.
ReplyDeleteNice and abstract. They first one reminds me of the top of an ice cream float and off to the left there's a hint of oreo cookie crumbs. Can you see it? Or...maybe I'm too hungry on this new diet. LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks, as always, for hosting.

ReplyDeleteLooks like a trackback beat me to the punch! I like the contrast of the snow and sand grains!
ReplyDeleteI stopped thinking about anything after the word "beach". LOL Love the captures! xxoo
ReplyDeleteHey, Lisa! The sand and snow combination sure looks familiar. :))
ReplyDeleteLisa, it looks like an ice cream sandwich! That got me into thinking too. I guess some of us hibernate somewhere or live and wait it out. I'll probably live and find beauty in it!
ReplyDeleteLove the juxtaposition of sand and snow!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting.

WOW it looks like a crumbly biscuit!
ReplyDeleteWow, snow by the beach. What a unique combination and the patterns they make are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHonnestly I prefer a warm and sunny beach. But sometimes it happens even here in Belgium.
ReplyDeleteI live not too far from Lake Michigan, so I'm not unfamiliar with this. Great details Lisa!
ReplyDeleteGood shots Lisa!
ReplyDeletelol. it almost looks like chocolate icecream. :)
ReplyDeleteCool captures! Sand & Snow together is not something that I normally see :)
ReplyDeleteYou know I had never seen the ice and snow at that level before and it has got a certain texture and detail that adds to its beauty. Have a wonderful week and thanks for hosting Macro Monday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea... just left my "Cracker butterfly" in your macro Monday collection... found your blog by a rather circuitous route via "A Matter of How You See It" to "TROPICAL TEXANA" to here. I'm passionate about macro photography since discovering the entire world of beauty I was missing by not looking further than what my eyes could see. Nice snow and sand images!
ReplyDelete[...] Macro Monday. [...]
ReplyDeleteThat´s unusual to see sand and snow together. Here, in UmeĆ„ (Sweden) we have lot of snow. It´s gonna be a long time before we can see the sand on the beaches. :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks pretty cool - almost abstract looking. I like it!
ReplyDeleteGreat winterbeach macros !
ReplyDeleteHere is the snow melting , but I guess we will have moore before the spring comes ?!
I just hate when the snows melt and turn into ice and it´s like an hockeyrink outside the door :(
Cool shot - I bet you wouldn't want to walk barefoot on that beach right now huh? :)
ReplyDeleteThat is one cold sandy beach scene...I think I prefer the summertime beaches lol Nice unique perspective!
ReplyDeleteGreat images. The subdued colours are very subtle and lovely.
ReplyDeleteI like the snow on the beach..... as a science teacher, it reminds me of images from Mars with frost on the barren landscape. Thanks for the "cool" perspective.....no snow here on our Texas beaches!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to permalink this on my photo blog, but I don't see a code for the button. :( I will be back when I am on the computer (not my iPad) to steal it and place it with my other photo blog buttons. Thanks!

Nice contrast in textures and seasons - I think of summer when I see sand, so the snow seems strange and out of place.
ReplyDeleteI love the first photo... so beautiful the way the colours and textures of the snow and sand seem drift through one another...
ReplyDeleteHere I am with recent snow on my island's beach! ;D
ReplyDeleteYour post has me eager for the beach. I love it. There might be slightly less snow there, but who knows!
ReplyDeleteYou're right - I've never seen snow on a beach. We've always lived in warm weather places where no one would know what to do if there was snow on the sand. =D
