On our way through Burlington (Vermont) I had to stop and see the Whale Tails. They can be seen from the Interstate but what’s the fun in that?
We walked right up to them.
I gave them a little hug.
Not sure if Dennis was trying to push them over or finding his Zen.
Reverence was created by Jim Sardonis from 36 tons of African black granite in 1989.
I LOVE large art!
ReplyDeletethat's pretty amazing and random out there....it's like something that would be on the LOST island!
ReplyDeleteReally "shocked" me! Whales on land. ha ha. ;p
ReplyDeleteOf course you had to stop and see and touch them. Things like this are not meant to be viewed from the highway. I'm glad you shared, for when I EVENTUALLY get to Vermont, I'll know to look for them.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of granite! Wowzers. Love the sky in the last one. You two are so cute...
ReplyDeleteVery unusual.....I think I would like to see them...no plans of a trip to Vemont in my near future. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIf they weigh that much I guess there's not chance of pushing them over. How interesting!
ReplyDeleteLisa, this is so cool. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIf a bit odd I gotta admit ;)
36 tons... well, I guess he must think he is Sampson .. heh heh.
ReplyDeleteThis is just plain cool. What a fun sight.
ReplyDeleteHappy PSF!
Well that is something you just don't see everyday. Kind of cool if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteHow awesome! I hope to one day go on a massively long road trip and see all the random things such as this to see.
ReplyDeleteWhen I stopped to see all the "Art Cows" in CT I hugged several. I get it. ~Mary
ReplyDeletewe all stop to see the landmarks. that's what a road trip is all about.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful sculpture!
ReplyDeleteWhale's tails are not something I think of when I think of Vermont. Very cool though and makes me think I'd get along just fine there LOL
ReplyDeleteI love the oddity of this artful piece. Strange to see whales swimming amidst a green sea. Your vacation has missed nothing and I'm pleased for that as I've enjoyed reading your adventures and seeing your great pictures. Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteWhat kewl shots! I've never heard of this spot. I do love vacationing vicariously in this virtual world. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
