I am happy to say that one of my favorite summer visitors are back!
Maybe this will be the year that I catch a baby Sandhill Crane. In a photo I mean, not literally catch, but maybe, this is the year. Currently, I’m content with just hearing their calls again.
I happened to get a picture of a couple of these creatures just a couple of weeks ago. And it's great to think about them and about spring - I'm ready! Great shots Lisa!
ReplyDeleteThese big birds are fascinating to watch. I have seen some little ones a few times, but their parents were protecting them so much, it was hard to get a good look at them. Very beautiful photos!!
ReplyDeleteAnd they are stepping out in style. So happy for you!
ReplyDeleteI guess that means they're leaving Florida...I'll miss them!
ReplyDeleteFascinating photos! I've never seen cranes first hand and I'm so grateful to see them here on your blog. Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteI have NEVER seen one! wow such a beauty.
ReplyDeleteI gave you the wrong addie for facebook. I had to start a new one , hubbie and I was sharing the same addie and they closed my original dow.
So here is the new addie...tjexpress@live.com Thanks for adding me. TJ
what an interesting looking bird... like a woodpecker fell for a pheasant and the rest is history.
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa - Found you via Jenners blog. And then discovered that you are a fellow Cheesehead. And then read your About Me to find out that you are centrally located. And then hopped to your photography site to find that you are located in PLOVER! Well, that is where I am! Small world and funny that I had to go all the way to NJ and back to discover you! I love your photography and find your photos inspirational. I have a blog of my own Treasures-Found.Blogspot.com where I post about inspiring and creative things and I own my custom jewelry design business. Now that I know what you look like, I will be on the lookout for you. And congats on the Community Weight Challenge. I will have to read up on your secrets! Enjoy the day! Erin
ReplyDeleteThis bird is a little different. I love his long beak and red head. Even living in LA, I"m able to wake up to the sounds of birds outside my window, which is always better than the alarm clock..................:)
ReplyDeleteHey, wonderful birds. I have never seen one before.
ReplyDeleteDid you get my second e-mail okay? Just wondering.
Great shots of some magnificent looking birds!
ReplyDeleteOch, they are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI would be content for a start to see one of them at all, but I doubt we have them here :)
Yay for birdie pics and spring/summer! Woohoo, I'm ready!
ReplyDeleteWow, I am in awe. I'd have to go to the zoo to see such lovely birds !
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, the setting at the zoo is nothing like your beautiful scenery!
It's very neat that the cranes are so close. Great photos!
ReplyDeletesuch striking photos!! i love nature..
ReplyDeleteThose are cool birds. I've never seen one - they look kind of like turkeys. Glad Spring is finally arriving for you!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen these birds. I love the second shot.....looks like a two headed bird. :)
ReplyDeleteYou don't need to be an ornithologist to enjoy this.
ReplyDeleteThat red top makes them so pretty. Never heard them, would love to. Only saw one, it was neat because it wasn't suppose to be there, but it was confirmed to be a Sandhill.

I got a photo of these beauties last year with two babies. I'll have to try to post one of the photos for you this week during my mini blogathon :-)
ReplyDeleteHow striking! They look like they are huge!
ReplyDeleteI've just been trying to get pictures of them PERIOD for the past few years. I finally have a nice camera, so maybe this year! (I have TONS of blurry ones...)
ReplyDeleteWe sometimes visit the cranes on Thanksgiving Day at the Jasper-Pulaski Preserve in Indiana.
ReplyDeletePoster fodder there!!
ReplyDeleteThese guys look pretty familiar, but the ones in the yard and on the road to the park don't have the orange around their eyes, they're actually pretty dull and grey. Don't tel them I said that.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I hope you get to see and photograph the a baby too!
ReplyDeleteThose photos are spectacular! What neat subjects.
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous that you saw these guys. They're on my list of birds to see someday...
