The ducks that gather near us are always so fun to watch! And as I feed them corn they come flying in.
Some land on their feet with a soft whush.
Some patiently wait for some corn to land on their heads.
Some try to land on their feet.
But, land with a thud that sounds like it would leave a bruise. Do ducks bruise?
There’s the one foot landing.
Oops, off balance I guess.
She recovered quickly, ‘Do you have any corn left?’
Maybe running will soften the landing?
‘How about I just land on your hand full of corn?’
And still others, decide that walking is the easiest, less painful, way to arrive at the food.
‘Could you get this snow off my beak?’
I loved how you can see through his nostril. I know it’s hard to tell in this small of a photo, but that white fleck on his beak is his nose hole and the snow beyond.
Those are some terrific shots...had me laughing. As for the bruising question...isn't that what makes the dark meat? :-)
ReplyDeleteVery cool action shots...love all the bad landings!
ReplyDeleteI could help round those ducks up for you so you could feed them! Need some help?
ReplyDeleteThe chickens do that when we go outside in the backyard. They lose all composure if there's treats involved. I hope you have a wonderful weekend Lisa.

Paying it Forward....
ReplyDeleteMy good friend Pam gave me an interesting and extremely flattering award yesterday, the Zombie Chicken.
Now, in standard fashion, I am flattered and honored that anyone in their right or wrong mind would think of me when dishing out any kind of blogg...
Great shots.
ReplyDeleteI just found a mating pair of mallards walking down the grass behind our fence. The males are so colorful. Great action shots.. they are so funny when they misjudge the landing... then pop up as if to say... I meant to do that!

But if you twisted my arm for an answer, I'd say "Oops, off balance I guess." What a terrific photo - belly flop onto the ground - ouch!
Those are wonderful - I just love Mallards.
