Great news on all fronts

soft

Dennis finally got all his results back from the cardiologist - well all, save one, and the news is that there's no blockages or weird growths.  His blood flow rate is weaker than it should be but for now they are upping his medication and have approved him to start back exercising once the final result is in.  He's supposed to start the exercise back up slowly then follow up with the cardiologist in 6 months.  Best news we could have hoped for.  Hopefully, the higher dose of medication will control the heart rate a little better.

I saw the oncologist this afternoon and my abdominal/pelvic CT scan looks good.  My bloodwork is also good, the liver enzymes are still high but they are the lowest they've been in 3 years, so hopefully that trend will continue.  I will be having a chest CT tomorrow to verify that all looks good there, then I can schedule the removal of the port and stay away from the oncologist for 6 months.  Remission is grand!

Thanks to everyone - you are my lifeline more often than you realize!

A Roaring Macro Monday

Wish I could have taken this fellow home with me!

Snapped while walking downtown Philly.

Macro Monday is easy to play, snap a macro (or any close-up) photo, post it on your blog and come back here and sign Mr Linky. Don't forget to visit each other. :)

A tree full of Commorants

lc2477

We stopped at a cache one day, here in Wisconsin, that was near a lake. I walked to shore to see what I could see and I found a tree of Commorants! My first time seeing them in Wisconsin!

With Dennis’ help, some maneuvering through the woods got us closer.

lc2479

Would have loved to get even closer, but that wasn’t to be.

lc2480

They could hear us, but not see us, and we feared making them leave.

Rocking with Rocky!

lc2476

We made it to Philadelphia on our route home and wanted to eat some place fancy and absolutely Philly - we enjoyed a walk around the neighborhood and I thought this billboard was funny - couldn’t resist. Btw, these night shots were taken with the little point and shoot - it did not do as good as I had hoped but. . .

lc2475

Bravo for facebook keeping me in contact with my peeps (is that outdated?) Alisha quickly offered up a perfect suggestion! Pat‘s King of Steaks makes the best Philadelphia Steak Sandwiches - not that I’m really an expert as I have never had one before - nor since. But I did gobble up the sammich right away!

Now Haden loves Philly-cheese-sandwiches and he ate TWO!

lc2474

A nice little bonus - I had forgotten all about the scene with Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) eating here!

lc2473

When Alisha requested I take a photo of the sign on How to Order I had no clue why. But I quickly learned when I got there. If you do it wrong you HAVE to get to the back of the line! And the place is VERY busy - so you don’t want to mess up! 'Wit-out Plain Please'

lc2466

The next morning we got up early and walked all over downtown Philly! We spent about 5 hours touring many places and seeing SO many sights that it will take many posts to share them all - but we’re nearing the end of the journey.

lc2467

HAD to see the Rocky statue while we were there! It’s a requirement!

lc2468

Makes you want to watch the movie again - doesn’t it?

lc2469

Near the statue you will find the stairs - and the museum and a GREAT view of downtown!

lc2470

It rained a little that morning, which really made it easier to see the letters.

lc2472

I enlisted Haden’s help to show that the footprints are life-sized - and Sy has small feet!

lc2471

However, I wish Dennis had snapped a photo of my contortionist position while I was snapping. This is how it looked in the camera.
