In a Pickle Macro Monday

Any idea what I've been up to lately? Yes, I have spent some time canning, making pickles and jam - my first attempt - so far, so good.

Check out the size of some of my cucumbers and squash! I pickled some squash too, tastes just like a pickle, lol. Any problem using this type of squash in the place of zucchini for some bread?

  3. If you have too much, there's always a food pantry.. lol. I bet you could make bread/muffins and freeze them individually or in big bags and use them for all sorts of things throughout the winter! You could probably try a savory one with cheese, too.

  9. Hi Lisa,

Wow, your squash is huge! Those cukes look delicious too. I remember eating cucumber sandwiches as a kid. I haven't had one in a while, but they sure are good. Have a great week!

  10. Nothing like fresh, homegrown veggies. Grilled zucchini is a fav!

  11. Really love macros of citrus slices and now cucumbers--the seeds, core and contrasting peel color just make a great composition. In our family garden when growing up, noting was ever wasted--even arm sized squashes!

Lisa, can you tell me what I may be doing wrong with Mr. Linky signup? Always lose the image even though it's there at the beginning? Thanks.

  12. Cucumber and peanut butter sandwiches are my favourite!!! but I do love making pickles too...best part is enjoying them through the winter knowing you made them yourself...they beat those commercial pickles any day (same goes for canned tomatoes, applesauce and homemade jams!! Gorgeous shots Lisa!

  15. Fresh out of the garden ... you make my mouth water. The gardens here have not been too successful because of the drought, but the produce is still better than what you buy in a store. So your pictures are so good, they made me hungry so I am off to get some lunch. Thanks ... Great that you are canning your own and I would love to taste the bread with the squash. I'll bet it would be yummy ... If you try it, let us know :)
