My chaotic life

I really feel like I need to apologize for being so slow visiting you guys lately. My life has been overwhelmingly busy and I haven't been sitting much. I find myself trying to prepare my post at about 10pm every night for the next morning and I don't like that either.

First up we are preping for a garage sale this weekend - exhausting! I have spent two full days in our garage pricing things. Btw, what do you call them in your area? Garage Sale, Rummage Sale, Sale, or something else?

I haven't mentioned the diet thing recently so let's talk about that. I'm down 41 lbs!  Yippee! Well, guess I had less to say on that than I thought - my mind is just kinda everywhere right now.

Important - My husband is from Honduras - you knew that, right? Well, this month we will celebrate our 6th anniversary (been together 8 yrs). And I have never met his parents, they still live in Honduras - but they are currently up here!  Two weeks from today we will be driving to North Hero Vermont, where Dennis' cousin has an Inn (his parents are helping with the Inn for the summer). I am so nervous about meeting them, especially since I don't speak Spanish!

We have decided to make a vacation of the trip and I'm totally wigging out (do people still say that) with excitement! I will give you all the itinerary later but for now:

Doesn't this look fun!?! Yep, we're booked.  We'll be on the water for 8 hours.  Dennis and I went white water rafting in New Mexico a few years back on the Rio Grande but Haden has never been,  I think he's pretty excited.

And, because we're going in May we have to wear wetsuits and now I'm all worried. . .well, I can't 'hold it' for 8 hours!  I just can't.  I'm so worried about not being able to go for that long that I almost can't get excited about having fun.  I've been told to just go in the suit but that sounds really gross and I just can't.  Diapers?  Maybe I just don't drink the day before?  Anybody know anything about it?

Oh yeah, this is booked too!  Well be on the water 3 1/2 - 4 hours for this excursion, but much tamer than the rapids I would imagine. :)  I've never been whale watching before and I sure hope we see some whales, and some Puffins.  Hope I don't get seasick. (Am I a chronic worrier?)

Then another day we will be going out, once again, for about 2 hours to watch lobsters and seals. :)  I'm kinda thinking our "vacation" may be exhausting. :)  But at least it will be exhausting in a fun way!

I'm really proud of my husband.  He has actually booked all of our motel rooms, campgrounds, and fun things, almost a month a head of time!  Impressive!   I still remember my first vacation with this man, I think he might (huge might) have booked our campsite at Yellowstone, but the rest of the trip was winged.  We pretty much just got in the car with a general direction we wanted to go, loaded up the camping gear and bikes and went.   He's growing up. :)

PS - Maine is on my bucket list. :)  And soon to be checked off.

Maybe we'll be lucky enough to see Champ in Lake Champlain while we're visiting family- how cool would that be?!!

FYI Now, just a heads up, while we're gone I am going to limit my computer time.  I wanna enjoy the vacation so I probably won't be on here much, heck we're camping 4 days and I bet there won't even be internet there.  So I'm just letting you know now that there'll be about 10 days with no posts.  Having said that, I will prepare Macro Monday's ahead of time so you guys can still all play.

  6. HOW EXCITING!!!! and regarding the holding it for 8 hours...you know that's not going to happen, so don't worry about it...with all that water splashing about, if you do have to pee your pants, I'm sure it will quickly wash away...and remember, you won't be the only one doing it! HAVE FUN!!!

  8. By all means, enjoy the vacation...it sounds like a great one! Will be anxious to hear all about it. The white water rafting looks exciting...but not a good place for a camera :-) and I've always wanted to go whale watching, but get so sea-sick so easily that I've never dared go out. Have fun. I know you will!

  9. Lisa, I'm so excited for you!! You are going to have soooo much fun... I went whitewater rafting once (almost chickened out right before) and had a blast.... I want to do it again someday. It was incredible.

And you've lost 41 lbs? Girlllll, my hat is off to you. Kudos to your self control and your dedication. This is so awesome. You must feel terrific. :-)

Most definitely, leave the computer behind as much as possible and enjoy your fantastic vacation. I'm sure there will be a "few" photos once you are back, lol.

Oh, and the garage sale? I did those so many times in Ohio before I moved to KS, and I will tell you, they are so time and labor intensive, it isn't even funny. So I understand where you're coming from on this one.

  13. Fun, fun, fun! Now I am getting excited to go. I wish we were going at the same time so we could meet up for some lobster ;0) Can't wait to hear all about it. Jot some advice down for us. We would love to know first hand what the "must do's" are! Have fun and be safe! Love ya!

P.S. We call them garage sales or yard sales, depending where they are!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well as I understand it the name of the sale is driven by the venue in which its held. But "Yard sale" is probably the most common term I hear applied. "Rummage sales" are usually put on by groups, churches, scout troops ... stuff like that. Garage sales are mainly run by expatriate Yankees who aren't used to being able to hold such things outside and whose only experience with these things is that they have to be run outta the garage.

Then there's the Flea Market which is a whole other thing.

  23. Hi. I found your blog via Kristi's photo scavenger hunt. It's amazing that you've lost 41 pounds! WOW. Congratulations. That's amazing. Good for you! Also kind of incredible that you've been with your husband for so long and never met his parents. At this point, they kinda have to approve, don't they? :)

  25. What an exciting vacations, Lisa! but that white water rafting sounds so scary to me.I expect to see lots of pictures when you're back.
Wishing you and your husband, a Happy 6th Anniversary! with more good years to come.

  26. This sounds wonderful. I am sure meeting his parents will go well. You are a wonderful person and I know they will see that. Your vacations sounds great. I grew up in New England and haven't been back in a while. I think you will really like Maine. It's funny, I grew up with all of those things and it never occurred to me that people would want to go on vacation to see them.
My daughter scuba dives and she said there is an insert of some sort that you can buy to put in the wet suit. She said the main problem is usually not having to go to the bathroom but to keep from dehydrating because of the sweating. I am hoping that is comforting and not adding a new worry.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I went scuba diving -- and yes.. I did it in the suit.
But, we were fully submerged in cold water. It felt so warm ha ha ha ha h a

    ReplyDelete
  28. Sounds like a sea of fun!! That's a good exhaustion! Peace and fun! Love it!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Usually garage sale or yard sale. I hear rummage sale, too, but that's usually a group like the Boy Scouts or a church, the idea being that the items for sale were donated. (Nope, no logic to it. Just the way it is 'round here. :)

  30. You are going to have a ton of fun! And just pee in the wetsuit if you have to -- I'm sure everyone does but just don't mention it!!! I won't tell! Enjoy enjoy enjoy! And I'm sure your hubby's family will love you! And congrats for losing so much weight ... I must work on this myself! It was so disconcerting to not see photos but thanks for the update!!!

  31. Just by reading all the plans you have for this "vacation" I got tired :D

  39. Hey, just wanted you to know that when I first opened your site, both of the middle videos in this post autoplayed and they both started talking to me at once! It was just a bit confusing and hard to find the right off switch. This happened on Firefox 3.
