I was surprised to see an Oriole at my suet. I never knew they would come to suet, and I've never seen one in the neighborhood.
If you look really close the markings are a little different, so we must have at least two in the neighborhood.
As soon as I saw one I ran out and got an Oriole feeder and food.
The funny thing is, I keep seeing them eat the marmalade in the top, not the juice. But the juice does go down so they must be eating it too.
They are smart Lisa! They eat it when you are not looking! We have seen a very strange bird in our tree here at the cottage this year....it almost looks like a parakeet....only darker green! Never seen one around here in all the years we have been here.
ReplyDeleteNice yellow birdie.
ReplyDeleteLucky you! I haven't seen an Oriole around here in years.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to see an Oriole although, technically, we live in or near oriole country. They seem to be very elusive little things. Your oriole is more mottled than I thought they were.
ReplyDeleteFor the first time ever this year, I've seen orioles in the orchards and vineyards. A sure sign that we've changed our world, sigh.
ReplyDeleteWe have tons of orioles around here an I have never seen one at a feeder! I am jealous! Aren't they the most gorgeous bird (and I love their song)! very cool captures!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool...I didnt think they would come to feed on suet either. My daughters both have oriole feeders in their yards, but seems the humming birds come more often then the orioles.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shots!
ReplyDeleteThey're discussing the fact that they FINALLY found some food - Great shots!!!
ReplyDeleteLisa, such beautiful shots! Smart little guys aren't they?!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous little birds. Lovely shots!
ReplyDeletehaven't seen an oriole before so thanks for sharing these wonderful pics. i'm going to enjoy seeing more of your neighborhood shots. beer crossing is a funny sign. and lastly, take that jump from time to time as it is invigorating. have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteoh, hope the new store is something you'll enjoy shopping at.
I learned something new today as I never knew there was such a thing as an oriole feeder. Lovely shots!

ReplyDeleteYou have just made me very jealous! I am planning to TRY to lure orioles into my gardens next spring. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat shots!

ReplyDeleteWhat are they up to? We'd blush if we knew....
ReplyDeletei get so excited to see these wonderful birds with their amazing songs.
ReplyDeleteit's a rare treat.
