Waiting for the ferry.
The only way to get to, and from, Washington Island is via ferry. You know how Wisconsin has that little pointy jutting out part? The island is off that point. And from Washington Island you can take another ferry to Rock Island - but the only way to get to Rock Island is to first take the ferry to Washington Island. All clear? lol
Passing a ferry coming in as we are going out. We were leaving Washington Island, and I'm feeling a little loquacious today, can you tell? I got great news yesterday! I'm still in remission! Yay!
As we passed this island, I thought it looked pretty cool floating above the water. Mystical and mythical, just an illusion.
I couldn't tell if this place is occupied or not, but it looks nice, just a little run down. I'd live there. . .but I'm not sure how you get to that island.
A lovely lighthouse! This one is owned by the National Guard. Not sure how you get to that island either.
And passing one last ferry before we dock. Yeah, there's not much out there in Death's Door.
And the seagulls and cormorants were waiting for us. What a great trip!
Oh Lisa, I´m so happy for you!! That is wonderful news! Now you can really celebrate THANKSgiving! :)
ReplyDeleteLoved the pictures of your ferry ride. I felt like I was going along for the ride. :)
I'm most happy to hear about your good news! No. It's FANTASTIC news! :)
ReplyDeleteWishing you and your family a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving!
So very glad for your wonderful news!
ReplyDeletePraying for continued health, love and laughter in your life (as well as lots more picture taking - you're really good at that).
Like the last pic! :D
ReplyDeletea trip to celebrate good news!! hooray.
ReplyDeleteThat is FANTASTIC news Lisa! I am head over heals happy for you!! And isn't it a fabulous way to go into the Thanksgiving weekend....I'm jumping for joy!
ReplyDeleteAnd Love your pics...that one of the island "floating" is awesome!
You know you really did a disservice to these wonderful photos when you stuck the word "remission" in the middle of the post. You should've put it at the end, 'cause after that nobody's paying attention to the pictures anymore! That's WONDERFUL!
ReplyDeleteWow that old house really looks like an interesting place to spend some time! I've always wanted to live right at the water's edge - well until Hurricane season and then I want to live in Vermont LOL
ReplyDeleteWonderful news, Lisa!
ReplyDeleteWe never made it to the Door this year :-( We never took the ferry over to Washington Island, either. But I have Death's Door vodka and gin in my bar, lol! I can't wait to get up there again. Would love to come up in the winter.
I know you'll have a wonderful Thanksgiving, you have much to be thankful for!
Doing a HAPPY DANCE with you, Lisa.. just so very happy to hear your good news! Whew... ;o) I was breathless while reading... going to go back and better enjoy your fantastic photos! So very, very glad for you! ((HUGS)) Oh, if you need some extra cheer, stop by my place--I'm having a sweet gift giveaway to celebrate Thanksgiving week! :o)
ReplyDeleteWonderful news, Lisa. I am so glad for you. Now - as for the pictures - I love how you have captured that peculiar empty feeling that happens after summer and before the winter sets in.
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear you're still in remission!
ReplyDeleteIs it just me or are the ferries all empty? The house looks great though. With a good internet connection I could live there as well. I will have to overcome my seasickness of course!
Looks like a fun trip. I liked those old buildings on the island. One could squirrel away there and be happy until a bad storm. Happy to hear you're still in remission. That's great news. Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteLisa! I am so happy about your remission news. That must be so hard waiting for results like that. Something indeed to be thankful for! Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for sharing your wonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are breathtaking and your good news even more so.
ReplyDeleteI commented yesterday on your update - I know today was a wonderful day for you! It could have been stormy with no electricity and crackers for dinner and it still would have been a wonderful day! I'm so happy for you! *hugs*
ReplyDeleteOh and today's photos are wonderful as always :-)
I enjoyed the trip on the ferry.
ReplyDeleteGreat new. You must feel very relieved.
It does look all mystical--what a nice visit and congratulations on still being in remission.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in Port St Joe a few years ago (in the gulf region of Florida), we went in a boat and there was a house on the island there as well. I asked about it and the couple we were visiting said that when they were kids they used to go out there and mess around and then finally someone bought it and had tight security around it. It was really cool and I wish I took some pictures of it but didn't.
ReplyDeleteThe light house with the autumn trees is really pretty. My favorite pic. I always enjoy fall pictures.
First congratulations on the wonderful news. I didn't know you were ill; sorry to hear that.
ReplyDeleteThe photos are beautiful and Washington Island is one of the dearest places I've visited in the US - it's like a step back in time.
Love your AIRPLANE photos and the wonderful FERRY views as well ... simply BEAUTIFUL ;-)
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Love all the lighthouse shots. Beautiful Lisa, and I'm so gld for you that you don't have to go back for 6 mos. Way to Go!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!
B.
Lisa - I am so happy for you! That is just fantastic news! Hooray!
ReplyDeleteI loved the island. I betcha - POOF -- and it disappeared.
ReplyDeleteExcellent pictures. Years and years ago I took a camping trip to an island up in the UP in Door County where you had to take a ferryt out there and pack all your stuff in and out. It was quite an adventure indeed.
ReplyDeleteEspecially love that pic of the light house!
