Weird Wisconsin

lc2974

I see this pink elephant along I-39 every time we travel south a bit, but have never stopped to take a photo. He faces the interstate, but as you can see, we stopped behind him, so I still haven't got a front shot. *sigh* Can you see he's wearing glasses? And no, I haven't been drinking, I actually saw a pink elephant, wearing glasses.

UPDATE: You can see front shots of him along with a map of where he is here.

Cheese curds are very popular here in Wisconsin and we'd like them fried please. This truck just cracked me. I spotted him at the Neekoosa Giant Pumpkin Festival last month. And while I didn't eat curds there, I did find some yummy chocolate dipped cheesecake on a stick.

They had a few big pumpkins. They all got weighed, I can't remember exactly what the winner weighed but I think it was around 1100 lbs! Last year's was over 1400 lbs!

  1. What's a pink elephant doing there? any special reason?
That is some humongous pumpkin! should be enough to feed the entire village in some country. I've never seen pumpkins those sizes here, just too big for the average family.

  6. Okay, now I'm gonna have the Pink Elephants On Parade song from Dumbo stuck in my head all day. Thanks Lisa!

I thought deep-fried everything was a Southern thang. Apparently not.

  8. The pink elephant! I drive by that all the time. My dad when we were little used to play dumb when we would say we would see the pink elephant...making us think we were crazy! I did a post on my blog back in July with the pink elephant! Such a great shot...I kind of like the behind image!
Thanks for making me smile today.
    Enjoy the day!

  13. The pink elephant gets my vote for weirdest of the bunch! Why is it there? Advertising something? Is it art? Inquiring minds want to know!

  20. When I see big, prize-winning pumpkins like that I think of Alcott's Little Men, where they take a huge pumpkin and make it into a carriage of some kind, and using a do (I think) pull Amy and Laurie's daughter in it, dressed as Cinderella. Loved that book!
