Driving between Devil's Tower and Custer State Park we discovered this shoe tree at the side of the road. Not sure why it started but since finding it I have also found a couple of shoe fences. . .odd.
That's funny. I've always wondered why people throw shoes on trees and telephone wires. I see them from time to time where I live but never a whole "shoe tree", lol. Great capture.
I sometimes wonder what the parents who bought the shoes think about when they see the shoes up high on a tree! We have one of thee trees near us and another one is starting to grow across the street from it as well.
I've seen others post these, and I hate when people nail them to the tree. I like this one where they are tied on. Around my small town, the kids like to throw a pair of shoes up and try and hang them over the electric wires. Life in a small town! Great shots!
hah! Shoe trees! We came across one in the middle of nowhere Nevada a few years ago. It was FULL of shoes, I can't find my photos of it though (boo). Fun post!
Wouldn' mind trying some on: they look brandnew :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's a new twist...
ReplyDeleteNow that might be a story worth hearing! some great pictures today!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, I've never been able to understand the shoe trees that sprout up around the country, but they are great photo subjects.
ReplyDeleteAhahah! It's really funny! Nice shots, Lisa.
ReplyDeleteNow that is just weird. Cool shots though.
ReplyDeleteI agree with BJ,,,that is very strange...I would love to know the story behind them!
ReplyDeleteHow strange. Intriguing!

ReplyDeleteYou find the quirkiest things. Maybe this is where all those shoes you see on telephone wires come from.
ReplyDeleteSome of those shoes look like they still have some wear in them. Those baby shoes, for instance. Wonder what that's about....
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the story behind all these shoes is. Great pics.
