Sometimes when I see pictures like these I'm struck with the idea of how many people there are in the world all living their lives...all sharing the same simple pleasures.
Nice gams! Oh, sorry. My son has played in a couple of big bands (among other things) and sat in with a bunch of jazz bands big and small (Including one sit in with the Raleigh Jazz Orchestra when he was a senior in high school -- I was especially proud of that one, but I'm sure you can't tell that at all). I never really got into big band swing until he atrted playing it, then I discovered what I was missing. Looks like a splendid time was had by all!
Great pictures, Lisa. It looks like a lot of fun. My hubby has been trying to teach me to dance to swing/big band music, but I just far too uncoordinated! My weight doesn't help matters either! Take care Lisa
I haven't been to a dance in ages! The Man just doesn't dance - he doesn't know how. I'm thinking lessons would be a good idea if he only had the time.
Love the bowties on the guys! I could almost hear the music.
One last comment (for now) before leaving your blog... took me another day to get back to it! I truly enjoyed seeing this post... we live in an area where one of the best dance venues in the country (the Spanish Ballroom of Glen Echo Park) is nearby and I've enjoyed swing dancing for over 25 years since discovering a passion for it in the mid-1980's. It is always nice to see other age groups enjoying similar music (the younger generation) and your photos are a treat to view!
I love the details in the shots.
ReplyDeleteThe shoes and hands and such.
