We have a volunteer pumpkin plant by our front porch. It looks like the seed came from a small white pumpkin we had last year. They are really cute - and little but I don't think they're going to make it. - Actually it snowed pretty much all day yesterday, so now I know they won't make it - I did manage to snap some photos of our pumpkin before I picked it.
Dennis and Haden got me a couple of roses for Mother's day and they have been blooming like crazy all summer! They're still full of buds, but ummmm, SNOW! Yep, we had snow - October 12th - that's the earliest we've ever had snow.

Now why, would this pretty butterfly be sitting on the gravel when there's such a pretty flower nearby?
I'm not a fan of Irises, but I love the tiny Water Irises.

I feel very fortunate to have found these tiny wild orchids! I think they're Calopogon tuberosus, but don't hold me to that.

Sometimes the madness catches up to you and you need to just take a moment, alone, in the woods to breath.
Then God, or whoever you believe in, whispers softly in your ear when you weren't even listening for Him.
Proof, you do not have to be listening in order for Him to speak.
Indian Pipe is flower I longed to see, last year I managed to spot some, nearly dead, but was thrilled. This year, while I wasn't even looking, but was merely moping there it was. It's been a rough week, several people weighing heavily on my mind - worrying about their hearts and health. And still, I was not blind to the beauty, I took the time to listen.
When I go on my bike rides I always take my tiny camera along, but I typically don’t see anything to photograph. I got lucky on this outing and found some wildflowers blooming - I forget what they’re called but if memory serves I think the bloom only lasts a day.
The sun seemed a little bright on that yellow, so I used my shadow to shade the sunny flower, moved a little closer and discovered two critters on the petals. Great ride, indeed!
Early Monday I'll be getting the CT scan to make sure I'm still in remission. Good vibes are appreciated. :0)

The Karner blue butterfly is a federally endangered species living in a narrow band from eastern Minnesota to New Hampshire. Wisconsin is home to the largest and most widespread populations. As a larvae (caterpillar), they feed on only one plant wild lupine (Lupinus perennis). Lupine grows in dry sandy soils with full to partial sun. As a butterfly, the Karner blue feeds on just about any wildflower available. The more flowers the better the habitat is.
