I hope you all have a happy wonderful fourth!
We did a small amount of fireworks with our kids. (Haden wrote his name in the air - kinda)
I held the sweet, tired, Tristan throughout the show and we enjoyed a few sparklers of our own.
We were doing swell.
And then someone got hurt. A spark jumped off of the sparkler onto Tristan’s arm (see it hit there in the crease of his elbow? Dennis snapped the photo at just the right moment.). I brushed it away as he hollered and I ripped that sparkler out of his hand and threw it on the ground. His mom, daddy and I doctored him up and he’s fine, it didn’t blister but poor baby.
All the photos in this post were taken by my hubby as I was busy with the grandbaby.
Have a happy and safe holiday!
PS - Back in January I took some shots of fireworks in the sky and they are in a post along with the settings I used on the camera if you need some ideas of where you might want to be. Of course, don't forget to play with it a bit depending on your light and such.
oh poor baby! glad he is okay~ great firework photos!
ReplyDeleteI just saw a story on TODAY about the dangers of mishandling fireworks. Glad all turned out OK. Those are super pictures. You took them with a tripod didn't you? If not I definitely want to know how you got them to come out so good!
ReplyDeleteFantastic Fireworks!
ReplyDeleteWishing you and your family a very Happy 4th of July!
I'm glad Tristan is doing all right!
Oh poor thing! :( And then there's how HE felt about it... :((
ReplyDeleteMy friend called us early this afternoon asking if we want to go to a July 4th carnival/fireworks thingie... I won't have my tripod, but I'm going to give photographing the fireworks a shot. We'll see how it goes.

Wow! Great pictures! I just read a great article with tips on taking good photos of fireworks on Photojojo. But it looks like you've got that down! Bummer about the baby getting popped. I bet he'll be a little leery next time :(
ReplyDeleteThanks for the photo info. We won't have fireworks till tomorrow, so I will have to see if I can get anything. Oh, and I had no idea you were a grandma! That rocks!
ReplyDeleteThese are super duper. I'm especially enjoying them because we're just in from doing the same. Your husband did a great job. Glad the baby is OK!

ReplyDeleteGreat pics! Mine from our outing yesterday are set to post at midnight tonight. :O) Stop by if you want to see my hubby's pics of fireworks - he took TONS and they turned out OK despite the fact that he didn't know what he was doing. Hope you had a great holiday!
ReplyDeleteHappy Fourth of July! The name sparklers are really cool. I need to try that next time I come across some sparklers.
ReplyDeleteHey, could you do a technical post on how to photograph fireworks? Did you do anything special to capture the name writing one? Great photos!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your photos. Glad the baby is OK.
ReplyDeleteWow, your fireworks shots are amazing. I wish I wish my camera could figure out how to do that. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy little one decided sparklers weren't all that either when one got accidentally waved in his face and it clicked he might get hurt, there were hot after all. He's 3. I'm glad now blistering though.
I just read about the "writing in the air" trick and hope to get around to trying it out.
ReplyDeleteOkay...for real...how in the WORLD do you get firework pics to turn out? Can I do this with my basic digital camera? For real...I love this pics and I can soooooooooooooooooooooo see Haden's name! That ROCKS!!!!
