birthday or birth-day?
Dungarees Ablaze is the nicest person alive (even if I didn’t realize that I knew her IRL for far too long). You will never meet anyone nicer than her! So when she asked to hear about a birthday I just had to oblige.
Birthdays have always been special for me, until I moved away from Missouri a few years ago I always celebrated with my grandma. I missed being born on her birthday by a mere one hour and 58 minutes. And I have plans of going back next year to celebrate with her once again.
February 8th, 2007 marked my 40th birthday. I always thought if I reached 40 I would be decrepit and useless; I’m happy to say that I still feel full of vim and vigor! I’m looking forward to number 50! Just a couple of weeks after my fortieth birthday I received the bestest present ever! Another birth-day!
My first grandchild was born on February 24th, 2007. A miracle in so many ways. When I was diagnosed with cancer, October 2005, I feared I would never see grandchildren. When my daughter was diagnosed with PCOS in March 2006 we thought she would never have children. We are so blessed to have Tristan in our lives!

Oh your being too sweet - but that is you. Did you get the Fur lined hand cuffs for the 41st? I sure G-ma will love to see you and
ReplyDeleteFTS for Moi.
Now those are some pretty significant birth-days, Lisa. You're so right - an amazing blessing.
ReplyDeleteYou think "Penny" is sweet???? She is EVIL! Evil with furlined handcuff and a coconut bra! heheheh!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful birthday with your Grandma this year. And yes, the best present you could ever get was that little, adorable bundle of joy!
Awwww.....I am so happy for you. So many dreams realized. Truly a miracle!!
ReplyDeleteI just turned 38, and I do not feel decrepit, yet. Fun blogposts. Thank you
ReplyDeleteLisa, this post is just full of so much promise in every which way. I hope you know I am happy for you. Proof that good things are always around the corner, right?! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's cool. I share a birthday with my grandmother too, which you can probably tell from my recent posts, that I think she's awesome. I was born on her 56th birthday.
ReplyDeleteAwww, that's one healthy baby. Got some nice hair going on already too. That's a great way to celebrate your birthday!
ReplyDeleteWell, yours is the first Fun Monday I've visited, and I have a feeling it will be my favorite.
ReplyDeleteYou are an SOS...Sister of Survival.
And, there's nuthin', and I mean nuthin' sweeter than those grandbabies.
Sorry I've not been around much...just so busy with other summer projects.
It's amazing how horribly old 40 seems until you actually manage to get there. I think the 40's are GREAT!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't realized what an extra special blessing Tristan was. I just knew that he's adorable!
And what a perfect birthday present that was! We all know that I am totally jealous!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness....I think I'm in LOVE!! That Tristan is so adorable.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely wonderful birthday Fun Monday Lisa.
[ps...love the candles with letters, I've never seen anything like that...way cool]
You made my morning with this post. What gorgeous photos, Lisa. In addition to a cool Grandma, that child will have a gorgeous record of his life!
ReplyDeleteThose sound like the happiest of birthdays! I'm so glad you still get to celebrate yours with your grandma. My local one died 8 years ago (though my European one is still kicking!). Enjoy her as much as you can while you can! And that Tristan photo? Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Tristan's pic is (of course) the star!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Klaus
OOHH for Sweet!!!
ReplyDeleteWell that is just the most precious and sweetest birthday gift ever! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteAw Lovely memories and lovely pictures.
ReplyDeleteLisa, you are the awesome-ist grandma ever! That is my new word today and it fits you perfectly. And that certainly was the awesome-ist birthday ever!
ReplyDeleteTristan is simply beautiful! What a wondeful birthday gift!
ReplyDeleteSo, it turns out 40 and then 41, aren't so bad. My daughters thought we were old and stupid at 40, as they aged, we got younger and smarter. Now, that they're reaching that benchmark, they thing we're ever better.
ReplyDeleteAhhh those are great birthdays to remember, and here's to the next one. :D
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely birthday memories! How lucky you are to have your Grandmother to celebrate with even now … and your 1st grandchild (born the day after my 63rd birthday this year) is precious indeed. Thanks for sharing these lovely memories today.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Those are some truly sweet birthday memories Lisa!
ReplyDeleteWhat a miracle birthday gift, Tristan is for both you and your daughter!
That is something super special!!
Special birthdays, indeed! Love the baby picture.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is this is a wonderful post :)
ReplyDeleteGrandchildren and children are the best presents. I was born on my grandmother's 75th birthday. And we share our middle name.
ReplyDeletethat post was nice and sweet, BTW, I love February birthdays, both my babies are born in February
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your Fun Monday post. Birthdays are so special and now you have another to celebrate each year. Tristan is adorable. I'm sure you're enjoying life as a grandma.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Mary
Ah, life is good! Glad you're celebrating it! And by the way, speaking of someone who's 56 other than my eyes and wrinkled knees, I'm better than ever :-)
ReplyDeleteThe only thing sweeter than that story is the picture of that baby! Celebrate LIFE! Sounds like you do!
ReplyDeleteJen
I am feeling the dercrepit creeping into my life... I just saw yer visit. I thank ya for coming in.
ReplyDeleteVery sweet ...Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteAn excellent month - February = my grandmother, aunt, son and daughter, along with myself all born during the Aquarian month - great company and great memories. Did you get some pics from the Great Sand Dunes?
ReplyDeleteBoth sound like great birth-days! I remember when I was a kid I though 30 was old. I've changed that thinking obviously now....
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful grandbaby you had there!
Tristan is gorgeous and a definite blessing. I can't believe you are a grandma and you are one year younger than me!!! I remember when my mom was 40 she was so old...funny....I don't feel so old!!
