Our youngest son's 18th birthday is Saturday and we went on a car search.
We found a Grand Am he liked, bought it, drove it home, and the guys worked on played with it all weekend.
They did all the work and I followed them around with my camera, grabbing parts away.
Is it any wonder she wasn't idling so smooth?
Macro Monday is easy to play, snap a macro (or any close-up) photo, post it on your blog and come back here and sign Mr Linky. Don't forget to visit each other. :)
dead plugs from the look of them. lol.
ReplyDeleteDon't know what those car parts are but they look good in macro! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. I'm going to pull my car to pieces and see what shots I can get.
ReplyDeleteHa! I bet it was way more fun to follow with a camera than it would have been otherwise. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonder those plugs sparked at all. Look up corrosion in the dictionary and they would be the picture. Nice shots Lisa.
ReplyDeleteMissed you guys last week. Easter was seriously busy (and fun). We had the whole family over.
Very very cool..those are super great macros!
ReplyDeleteKiki~
cool pictures. Always a project when you buy a used car. I have an 18 year old also. He has had the used car blues lately. Gives him a reason to have a job. There is always something that needs attention in an older car, but that's half the fun, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteYou took something very ordinary and made it special!
ReplyDeleteClever and unique macros!
These old parts give so much character!
ReplyDeleteOh, man. Spark plugs, for the real guy cars!
ReplyDeleteAwesome macro!! Very clever and creative!
ReplyDeleteMine is up!
You make the old spark plug look so beautiful photo! lol
ReplyDeleteSpark plugs?! And you make even those look great. Cool, very cool.
ReplyDeleteI like Vicki's idea!! Think I'll tear my car apart to see what shots I can come up with....
ReplyDeleteOn second thought....my husband would NOT like that idea!
Great Plug Shots!
Whoa, those look NASTY! bet it hums right along now.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what those things are but they look as if they've seen better days!
ReplyDeleteNice pictures... I could not put in the right link to Linky. Can you pleace help me?
ReplyDeleteMilla was http://millasblogg.mcederholm.com/ but it s wrong, I want it to be
Milla http://millasblogg.mcederholm.com/#category35.
The only things my ignorant eyes see are rusty screws and beautiful macros !
ReplyDeleteI bet it works better now with these off, they don't look as they would work at all
ReplyDeleteWaht a great idea to make Macros of them, wold nerver have thought of that
Great macros on these carparts and they look really beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! How lucky that your son was kind enough to provide a great photo opp :)
ReplyDeleteDifferent and cool macros :) Great shots!
ReplyDeleteThat's some serious corrosion, it's amazing the car ran at all. My hubby is a professional mechanic so this is a common sight around our house. Great macro shots, maybe I should take a closer look at the garage. Do we get to see the car?
ReplyDeleteWho knew car parts look photogenic! You did! Well done!
ReplyDeleteLooks like macro boy stuff.
ReplyDeleteOh, how funny! Not a million miles away from my picture this week! LOL!
ReplyDeleteNice macros! I've always been just a little bit fascinated by spark plugs. They're so ... odd!. And yet, without them, no combustion and no movement!
Yeah, that does not look good. :)
ReplyDeleteWow..those are awesome macro shots! Who knew car parts could look that good!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like something my hubby would enjoy. :) Happy Birthday to your boy!
ReplyDeletethose are fantastic photos...
ReplyDeletewhat is it about rust that is so appealing? i'm addicted.
have a wonderful day~~
Even those rusty things look great in macro, Lisa. From now on, I won't overlook at them :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonder she was idling at all. Good grief, that's the most carbon buildup I've seen this side of a barbecue grill in a looooong time. Between that and the oil deposits on the threads, I'm a little concerned about the condition of your cylinder walls and/or piston rings. Looks like you're getting some oil past the rings and that's probably what's causing that crust on the plugs. Get somebody to check the compression on all your cylinders (or do it yourself) and that should answer the question for sure.
ReplyDeleteSpark plugs tell a story. But the story these tell could just be that they were left in there waaaay too long. And the car will probably run fine. (might be a little low on power if you're losing compression though.)
Ugh, time to change the spark plugs, I see. They seem to have been lie on a sea bed. You should see this post on how a spark plug should look like; http://artlover-mittlivibilder.blogspot.com/2009/11/torsdagsfoto-macro.html
ReplyDeleteGreat macrophotos anyway:-)
[...] Macro Monday for more [...]
ReplyDeleteWow! Those spark plugs needed changing! I am surprised that car even started! They do make for some great shots though!
ReplyDeleteLucky son. We cannot afford a car for our daughter; however, she was able to share my car until she went to college. Best wishes to your son. Cool mechanical macros!
ReplyDeleteYikes~ Well, congrats to him. He is lucky to have someone who knows how to do all the maintenance!
ReplyDeleteI don't believe I've ever seen such corroded spark plugs! lol I hope they had fun playing with the car and have it running smoothly!
ReplyDeleteCan understand that the car didn´t run so well with these Sparkplugs !

ReplyDeleteLMAO - now this is a post my husband would enjoy. And first used cars always require more time, money, and love then we ever appreciate. ;)
ReplyDeletecorroded !
ReplyDeletesome new spark plugs and it'll be good as new. great idea for a macro. congrats to your son for his new car. i'm sure he's lovin' it. :)
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to hire Mojo (#32) to come take a look at my chugging plugs!!! Great color range and texture in a subject the average photographer would not have found camera worthy.
ReplyDeleteCool photos. Happy Birthday to him, and good luck with the car!
