sooc #11 Happy Birthday Honey!

IMG_0933

Today is my husband's birthday, and since he is 6 months younger than I am he has finally caught up! I called one of friends in the wedding cake business to make him a cake. He loves her cakes! We went to pick it up friday and it was very hot, an hour and a half away and it sweated a little on the way home. But it's all good.

The only direction I gave her was I would like a camera on it and that he likes yellow. She did great!  After I took this photo I said, "Ok, I'm done"

He was holding the knife ready to cut and waited so patiently, not, for me to finish playing with it.  I barely had the words out that I was finished and the first cut was happening!

Jennifer really does make awesome cakes! They are always so moist and yummy (the sweat didn't affect the taste at all)! I'm going to include a link to her website in case any Wisconsinites are looking for a cake for a birthday, wedding, or any other celebration. Saves me answering emails, lol. You can see more of her wonderful creations at Cakescapes!  And remember, all these photos are straight out of the camera, no tweaking involved. :)

Just a Gray Cat

DSCF0847

Several weeks ago we went to a geocaching event that was also a birthday party for one of Team Black Cat's members. His wife had this cake made up for his 50th birthday and even though he's now a gray cat he's still going strong. lol

I loved the cake and snapped a few photos with my little point and shoot but had forgotten all about them until now.

His wife also made this yummy chocolate candy kitties. :)

Hope you don't mind me breaking out of living critters to share some fun ones. If you haven't heard of geocaching, it's a sport using a gps to basically find tupperware containers, film cans, etc in the woods and parks and such. Kind of a treasure hunt where the prize is a smiley online. We've found well over 4000 caches in about 35 states (more or less).

Adrianna's party

lc3136

December 18th marked Adrianna's 1st birthday. Of course there was a party.

lc3134

And cake!

lc3135

Her mama made the cute little bears, pink for Addy and white for Twister. There's a story behind the bears, each one of my children had bear cakes just like these for their first birthdays. It makes me so happy that Britney is continuing it with her children too.

lc3137

And lots of girlie presents.

lc3138

She figured out the whole wrapping paper thing pretty quickly and it was good practice for Christmas a week later, lol.

lc3139

Not to get all mushy but I love this girl SO much! She is so affectionate and tiny and cute and sweet and funny and huggable and I could go on and on. A year ago I wondered how I could possibly love her as much as I did Tristan, but I do, and it took a while for her to like me, it seemed, but she sure does now. There's nothing better than having both of these babies on my lap.

lc3140

And princesses, lol.

lc3141

Another first birthday tradition that Britney has started is pizza. We anxiously watched our little peanut sample her first piece of pizza.

lc3142

She figured out what to do with it quickly.

lc3122

lc3123

Pizza in one hand and cake in the other, could there be a better day?

lc3125

lc3126

Tristan did very well throughout it all. He wasn't jealous of sister getting presents at all. But I love the expression when he sees his bear on his tray.

lc3127

Lil ham.

lc3128

He figured out what to do with the bear pretty quick.

lc3130

lc3129

As did Addy.

lc3131

Yep it was a good party!

Energize me!

IMG_4112.jpg

IMG_4055.jpg

Ok, now that I have your attention I would like to share a little joy with you.

IMG_4065.jpg

Yeah, that kind of joy, without the consumption.  Do you want to feel good? Upbeat? Energized? With a feeling that you can conquer the world? Have you met anyone who makes you feel all that? (Crap I sound like a commercial!)

I have been lucky enough to meet someone like that and the more that I’m in her presence the more I want to be. The first time I met Jodi Pliszka (and her beautiful daughter) was at a Healing Angels retreat (for cancer survivors) and I was extremely impressed by her, but you can read all about that experience here.

You might recognize her from being on “American Inventor”(reality show).

I was fortunate enough to get to go to this year’s healing angel retreat as the photographer and got to meet up with Jodi Pliszka once again. I tell you, I walked away from that evening on clouds and ready to take on King Kong if he crossed my path.

At the time, I asked Jodi if I could share a photo or two that I took of her with my blog, after she pushed me off the chair she said yes and helped me back to my feet. Because I’ve been so busy she probably thinks I have forgotten. {Ok, I procrastinate, but this post isn’t about me. Move along.}

Jodi is an amazing woman, living with alopecia (no hair), she has a great sense of humor and wonderful spirit that just rubs off on you when you’re in her presence. I’m telling you, if you have the opportunity to meet her, or hear her speak, GO! Don’t even hesitate.

While I was there, I purchased her autobiography (Bald is Beautiful) and although I just started it (about 3 chapters into it - yes I‘m slow, get over it) I can tell you ,I love her writing style and her spirit comes out in her written word. I’m sure she has no idea that I was going to go on and on about her like this, and I bet I’ll make her blush if she finds this, but if you have a minute run off to her website and see what she has to offer (Headline it, children’s books, a bald cat or two and a lot of personality). I know that if you email her she will respond back (and leave you with warm fuzzies), I don’t know when she sleeps.

I hope I left you feeling energized and refreshed (and full of cake).

PS - I'm still jealous that she never has to shave her legs.  How's that fair?!
